Overview

The TIDE 300 wall light by FARO is a bathroom wall lamp. It can be placed to the side of the mirror or above it, which gives some flexibility when planning the lighting of the space. The matte black finish gives it a clear and defined character, without needing to add other decorative elements to make it stand out.

The LED technology with a colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, similar to that of a traditional bulb, but more efficient. This tone is comfortable for the bathroom: it does not strain the eyes and allows colours to be seen accurately, which is important when getting ready in front of the mirror.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior lighting. Their products are designed to last and to integrate well into different types of domestic environments, without drawing attention in a forced way.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall lamp, an electrical connection point is required on the wall where the light is to be mounted. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in bathrooms, where humidity requires taking into account the safety zones established by current electrical regulations. Before starting assembly, the power must be switched off at the electrical panel. The wall light includes the light source, so nothing additional needs to be purchased to get it up and running.

The aluminium surface in matte black finish should be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used, as they can damage the finish. The PMMA diffuser is cleaned in the same way, without excessive pressure. It is advisable to periodically check that the connections are in good condition and that the wall light is securely fixed to the wall.

Design and use

The TIDE 300 is a linear lamp with a discreet profile. With only 39 mm in height and 78 mm in depth, it sits against the wall without protruding too much. Its length of 300 mm allows light to be distributed horizontally along the mirror, eliminating shadows on the face that tend to appear when lighting comes only from the ceiling.

The body is made from aluminium, a material that withstands humidity and the passage of time well. The matte black finish does not reflect surrounding light, which avoids unwanted glare on the surface of the wall light. This type of finish is also easier to keep clean in a bathroom, where steam and splashes are common.

The opal PMMA diffuser softens the LED emission, so that light reaches the space evenly, without bright spots or shadowed areas. This is especially useful in bathrooms, where uneven lighting can be bothersome on a daily basis. The 3000K temperature gives a warm result that does not distort colours and creates a calm atmosphere.

Although designed for bathrooms, this wall lamp can also work well in other spaces. In a bedroom, placed on either side of the headboard, it offers soft reading light without taking up space on the bedside tables. In a hallway with a mirror, it serves the same function as in the bathroom: providing frontal illumination and eliminating shadows. It can also be integrated into a dining room or living room where accent lighting is desired without too much prominence. Even in a kitchen with work areas in front of vertical surfaces, this type of wall light can address the lack of localised light.

The matte black colour fits with very different interior styles. In a minimalist-design bathroom, it blends with dark fittings and smooth surfaces without clashing. In a room with neutral tones, it provides contrast without disrupting the balance. In spaces with wooden elements or natural materials, the black acts as a visual anchor point that brings order to the whole. It is not a lamp that imitates any particular style, which makes it versatile.

The weight of 0,8 kg makes it easy to handle during installation. It does not require special supports or complex fixings. Once the wall light is secured to the wall, the result is clean and stable. The luminaire has an integrated LED light source, so there is no need to worry about compatibility with bulbs or adapters.

Questions and answers

Can the TIDE 300 wall light be installed both above the mirror and to the side?

Yes. The lamp is designed for both positions. It can be fixed above the mirror or to one side of it, depending on how the electrical installation is laid out and the space available in the bathroom.

What colour temperature does this lamp have and how does it affect mirror lighting?

The lamp emits light at 3000K, a warm tone. In the bathroom, in front of the mirror, this type of light does not distort the colours of skin or clothing, and is more pleasant to the eye than cool or neutral light.

Is the aluminium body in matte black finish suitable for a humid environment such as a bathroom?

Aluminium is a material that is resistant to humidity, making it suitable for use in bathrooms. The matte black finish is also less prone to showing fingerprints or limescale deposits than shiny surfaces.
