Overview

The MARTINICA wall light by Faro Barcelona is a wall lamp with an adjustable arm that combines a classic design with updated finishes. The metallic shade in blue with a glossy satin finish can be directed as needed: towards a reading spot, towards the wall to create atmosphere, or upwards to diffuse light softly. This flexibility makes the wall light work well in a bedroom, living room, or dining room alike.

The lamp is fixed directly to the wall and takes up no surface space. It is a practical solution for those looking for adjustable lighting without resorting to a floor lamp or table lamp. The wall light has a considerable depth, which allows the shade to be positioned with a good range of movement.

Faro Barcelona is a Spanish company with decades of experience in interior lighting. Its products are found in decoration catalogues throughout Europe, and the MARTINICA collection is one of its most recognised references within the updated classic segment.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, verify that the surface is solid and capable of supporting the weight of the product. The fixing must be carried out with a suitable wall plug and screw for the type of wall. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, as it involves a direct connection to the mains. Check that the voltage of your installation is compatible with the indicated range before connecting the lamp.

For cleaning the wall light, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the satin finish of the shade or the black steel body. Before cleaning, always disconnect the lamp from the power supply. Do not exceed the maximum indicated wattage when choosing the E27 LED bulb.

Design and use

The MARTINICA wall light has a solid construction: the body is steel with a matte black finish, and the shade is metallic in blue with a glossy satin finish that reflects light softly. The combination of these two colours produces a visually balanced result, where the black anchors the whole and the blue of the shade adds character without being excessive.

The adjustable arm is the central element of this wall light. It allows the direction of the light to be adjusted according to the time of day or the specific use. In a bedroom, it can be placed at bedside table height and directed towards a book or tablet. In a living room, it can be pointed towards a painting, a reading area, or simply towards the wall to create a warmer, more relaxed ambient lighting. In a dining room, this type of lamp works well next to sideboards or passageways, where a directional, adjustable light is more useful than general lighting.

The wall light also fits well in hallways. In long, narrow spaces where general lighting is often scarce, a wall light with an adjustable shade allows the creation of light points that guide the path without saturating the atmosphere. The arm depth of 854 mm provides enough margin to project the light in different directions without the shade sitting too close to the wall.

In terms of style, the MARTINICA lamp belongs to a revisited classic line. The shape of the shade is reminiscent of desk or reading lamps from previous decades, but the finishes and the blue colour place it in a more contemporary context. This balance means the wall light works in interiors with different aesthetic references: from rooms with light wood furniture and simple lines to spaces with a more retro or industrial touch, where the black steel connects well with other metallic elements in the surroundings.

The metallic shade with a satin finish does not cause direct glare. The light is concentrated in the direction the shade is pointing, which allows the lighting effect in the space to be well controlled. This is especially useful in a bedroom or in a room where one wants to keep part of the space in shadow while illuminating another part with greater intensity.

The wall light is installed on the wall without the need for additional structures. The weight of 1.67 kg is manageable and does not require special reinforcement on standard brick or plasterboard walls. The E27 LED bulb is not included, which gives freedom to choose the colour temperature that best suits the desired atmosphere: warm light for rest areas, neutral light for work or reading spaces.

In generously sized bathrooms, where arm wall lights are permitted, this lamp can be placed on either side of the mirror for more balanced lighting than that offered by a ceiling spotlight. In bathrooms, it is advisable to verify the minimum recommended distance from water sources before installation.

Questions and answers

Does the arm of the MARTINICA wall light allow the shade to be directed in any direction, or does it have a limited range of movement?

The arm is adjustable, allowing the shade to be set at different angles to direct the light according to use. The exact range of movement is not specified by the manufacturer in the technical data sheet, but the design is intended to alternate between reading light and ambient light.

What type of bulb does this wall light accept and what is the maximum wattage?

The wall light has an E27 socket compatible with LED bulbs. The maximum accepted wattage is 15 W. The bulb is not included in the package, so it must be purchased separately.

Could the arm depth of 854 mm be a problem in small spaces?

In very small spaces, it is advisable to measure before installing. In narrow hallways or small rooms, that depth may interfere with movement. On the other hand, in standard-sized living rooms, bedrooms, or dining rooms, that extension is what allows the shade to be positioned freely and makes the most of the wall light's adjustability.
