Overview

The DANUBIO wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for those looking for a practical and durable lighting solution in humid spaces. Thanks to its IP44 protection rating, this wall light resists water splashes, making it especially suitable for the bathroom. It also works well in hallways or in any room where direct, stable light on the wall is needed.

The body is made of aluminium with a bronze finish, and the diffuser is made of opal glass. That combination results in a lamp with a solid appearance that does not draw too much attention but fits effortlessly into environments with a certain character. LED technology is already included, so there is no need to buy anything separately.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products are manufactured to quality standards recognized in the industry, and the DANUBIO wall light is a good example of that line: functional, well-built and designed to last.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a recessed wall box or an existing light point in the correct position is required. The wall light is fixed directly onto the vertical surface. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in bathrooms, where electrical regulations require specific safety conditions. Before connecting, make sure to cut the power supply from the main panel.

For cleaning, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Do not use abrasive products or solvents on the aluminium body or on the glass. The opal diffuser may accumulate some dust over time; removing it carefully and without excessive pressure is enough to maintain the original appearance.

Design and use

The DANUBIO wall light has an elongated, horizontal shape, 395 mm long and just 90 mm tall. That format makes it a lamp that distributes light laterally, covering the area in front of it well without creating excessive brightness spots. The opal glass diffuser softens the LED emission, so the light perceived in the bathroom or hallway is uniform and free from direct glare.

The bronze finish on aluminium gives it a visual weight that pairs well with surfaces such as dark ceramic tiles, neutral-toned sanitaryware or textured walls. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with other elements in the space either. It is the type of wall light that integrates without any need to reorganise the rest of the surroundings.

In the bathroom, this wall light works very well placed above the mirror or on either side of it. At 2700K it emits warm light, similar to incandescent, which favours colour perception without creating that clinical atmosphere sometimes produced by cooler colour temperatures. For a bedroom where ambient wall lighting is desired, the result is equally pleasant. In the living room, used as supporting light next to a sofa or a bookcase, it adds warmth without overloading the space.

In kitchens or dining rooms that already have central lighting, a wall light like this can serve as reinforcement in specific areas, such as a work surface or a wall that needs to be highlighted. It is not intended as a primary light source in large spaces, but as a complement it fulfils its function well.

The DANUBIO design has a certain vintage feel, with that combination of bronze metal and glass that is reminiscent of luminaires from previous decades without being overly ornate. This makes it compatible with both modern interiors and more classic or industrial-style settings. The metal structure conveys solidity, and the weight of almost two kilograms confirms that this is not a light lamp in the material sense: the quality of the whole unit is noticeable when handling it.

For hallways, where light often has to work well in narrow, windowless spaces, this wall light offers a straightforward solution. It is fixed to the wall, takes up no ceiling space and does not interfere with movement. The warm light it emits makes those transitional spaces feel more welcoming.

Questions and answers

Can the DANUBIO wall light be installed directly inside the shower or bathtub zone?

No. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, but it is not sufficient to install the lamp inside the immersion or direct shower zone. It must be placed outside that zone, in accordance with the current electrical regulations for bathrooms.

Is the 2700K colour temperature suitable for applying make-up or shaving in front of the mirror?

Light at 2700K is warm and promotes a natural perception of skin tone, making it quite suitable for that use. It does not distort tones as can happen with cooler lights, although some people prefer slightly higher colour temperatures for precision tasks.

Is the body of the wall light made of plastic or metal?

The body is made of aluminium with a bronze finish. It contains no plastic parts in the main structure, which contributes to its durability and the overall feeling of solidity.
