Overview

CRONOS is a wall light from the brand FARO designed for those who read before sleeping or need a focused light without getting out of bed. It mounts on the wall and works as a reading lamp: it directs light exactly where it is needed, without illuminating the entire room. It is a discreet solution for the bedroom, though it also fits well in hallways or rest areas where supplementary lighting is desired.

What sets this wall light apart is its switching mechanism. There is no switch to search for in the dark: the lamp turns on when the reader arm is raised and turns off when it is lowered. A minimal gesture, without complications. The base holds the articulated arm, forming a compact volume when not in use, giving it a clean and tidy appearance on the wall.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior lighting. Its products combine functionality and aesthetic sensibility, with careful finishes and long-lasting materials.

Installation and specifications

Installing this wall light requires access to an existing electrical connection point. As a surface-mounted wall fixture, the wiring must be integrated into the wall before installation. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician. The lamp includes the light source, so it does not need to be purchased separately.

The brushed aluminium surface can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. Do not handle the lamp with wet hands or while it is connected to the electrical mains.

Design and use

CRONOS has a radically minimalist design: few lines, no ornaments, no distracting elements. The body is made of steel and aluminium, with a brushed aluminium finish that gives it a matte, uniform texture. That finish does not accumulate fingerprints easily and maintains a clean appearance with minimal upkeep.

The base of the wall light embraces the reader arm and integrates it into a single volume when closed. It does not protrude from the wall more than necessary, making it especially useful in spaces where the gap between the bed and the wall is limited. In the bedroom, for example, it can be placed at bedside table height without the arm interfering with everyday movement.

The light switches on automatically when the reader arm is raised. That detail changes the user experience: there is no need to search for a switch when the room is dark, nor to interrupt reading to turn off the light when the book slips from your hands. The gesture of folding the arm is enough. It is a lamp that accompanies without getting in the way.

The colour temperature is 2700 K, a warm light that does not strain the eyes and is well suited for reading without causing visual fatigue. The high-power LED source with only 4 W of consumption offers efficient lighting for the focused use this lamp is intended for.

In the bedroom it works as a bedside wall light, but that is not its only possible location. In hallways with seating or reading areas, CRONOS can be installed at the right height to provide light without affecting the rest of the space. Also in the bathroom, if there is a reading or vanity area where directed light is needed, this wall light can fulfil that function. In the living room or dining room, placed above a reading armchair, it provides the necessary light without taking up floor space or table space.

The brushed aluminium finish is modern and neutral. It does not impose a particular style, making it easy to fit into very different interiors: from spaces with straight lines and a monochromatic palette to environments with natural materials such as wood or textiles with a pronounced texture. The compact form and the absence of decorative elements allow CRONOS to become part of the space without drawing attention to itself, which is exactly what is expected of a reading wall light.

The total weight is 0.41 kg, which simplifies installation and does not require special fixings in standard walls. Its reduced dimensions make it compatible with tight spaces, where a larger lamp would look disproportionate.
