Overview

The VESPER lamp by FARO is a table luminaire designed for those looking for a light source with its own character. It sits on a side table, a desk, or any surface where direct lighting is needed without complications. Its structure combines two bodies that play visually with the contrast between solid and void, giving it a modern look without feeling overloaded.

It is an option that fits well in a bedroom, a living room, or beside the bed as a bedside lamp. It can also work in a dining room if a more intimate light source is desired rather than the general ceiling light.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. It designs and manufactures luminaires for indoor and outdoor use, with a product range covering everything from more classic proposals to contemporary design options such as this VESPER series.

Installation and specifications

This lamp is placed directly on a flat surface, with no tools or wall or ceiling fixings required. Before installing the bulb, make sure the cable is disconnected from the power supply. The base must rest stably on the side table or desk without tilting. It is recommended to use an E27 LED bulb with a maximum wattage of 15 W. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100 V and 240 V, so it works with any standard electrical installation.

To clean the steel body in matte white finish, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products that may damage the finish. The beige textile diffuser can be cleaned with a dry cloth or a soft brush to remove dust. Do not use water directly on the fabric. Do not leave the lamp switched on without a bulb and do not exceed the maximum indicated wattage.

Design and use

The VESPER series by FARO starts from a simple idea: that a table lamp can be both functional and visually interesting at the same time. It is not about accumulating decorative details, but about resolving the form well. The two main bodies that make up this luminaire create a visual tension between mass and void that feels balanced effortlessly.

The body is made of steel with a matte white finish. This material provides solidity and stability to the base, with enough weight to prevent the lamp from being easily displaced from the side table or desk. The matte white does not reflect light aggressively and integrates naturally with light-coloured walls, furniture in neutral tones, or more contrasting combinations.

The diffuser is made of beige textile. This choice is not purely aesthetic: the fabric filters and softens the light from the bulb, distributing it in a more diffuse way than a glass or plastic diffuser. The result is a warm, enveloping light, without marked shadow areas or direct glare. This type of light is especially pleasant in a bedroom or in a reading corner beside the bedside table.

At 600 mm in height and 400 mm in length, it has a clear presence on any surface. It does not go unnoticed, but it does not invade the space either. It fits well on a standard-sized bedside table, at one end of a desk, or on a small console in the living room or dining room.

The E27 socket is the most common on the market, so there is no difficulty in finding the right bulb. A LED bulb of up to 15 W is recommended, providing sufficient light for ambient or supplementary lighting without generating excessive heat. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the space.

In terms of style, the VESPER fits in modern interiors, but can also accompany more eclectic settings. Matte white and beige are a neutral combination that does not clash with wood, linen, earthy tones, or even metallic elements in black or gold. If the rest of the space has a certain personality, this lamp does not compete with it: it complements it.

It is also a good choice for those who want to replace the lamp on a bedside table without making major changes to the bedroom. A single well-chosen element can change the perception of the whole without touching anything else.

Questions and answers

Does this lamp require a bulb with a specific socket?

Yes, it uses an E27 socket, which is the most common standard. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the model you prefer, as long as it does not exceed the maximum wattage of 15 W. A LED bulb is recommended for greater efficiency.

Does the beige textile diffuser affect the type of light the lamp emits?

Yes. The fabric acts as a filter and softens the light from the bulb, resulting in a more diffuse and enveloping illumination. This is different from what a glass diffuser would produce, which tends to project light more directly.

How much does the lamp weigh and is it stable on a small side table?

The net weight is 2.52 kg, which gives it a solid base and prevents it from tipping over easily. Even so, it is worth making sure the surface has enough space for its dimensions: 400 mm in length and 200 mm in depth.
