Overview

The SAMBA lamp by Faro is a table luminaire designed for those looking for a subtle yet characterful light source. The beige ribbon shade and the matte black steel body form a combination that integrates easily into modern settings without forcing anything. It is a mini table lamp, compact, that takes up no space yet defines the atmosphere of a room.

It is a valid option for a bedside table, a desk, or a dresser in the living room. Its reduced scale makes it especially useful when light is needed nearby without the object itself becoming the focal point. It also works well in hospitality projects: hotels, tourist apartments, or rest spaces where attention to detail matters without complicating installation.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long history in interior and exterior lighting. The SAMBA collection is part of Faro Lab, a line oriented toward purposeful design, where each piece has a clear identity without resorting to superfluous elements.

Installation and specifications

To use this lamp you only need a flat surface to place it on: a small table, a low shelf, or a desk. No tools or fixings are required. Before connecting it, make sure the voltage of your installation is compatible with the indicated range. Use an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase one separately.

To clean the steel body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could alter the matte black finish. The beige ribbon shade can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. Do not wet the socket area or the cable. Always unplug the lamp before cleaning it or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The SAMBA lamp has a recognisable form: compact base, vertical arm, and a conical shade with a golden beige ribbon finish and a matte black steel structure. It is not a ceramic or glass lamp, but a well-finished metal piece with a fabric shade that filters the light and directs it downward. That contrast between the light tone of the shade and the black of the body is what gives it character without needing to add anything else.

With a height of 360 mm and a base of 215 mm, it is a luminaire that adapts well to small spaces. On a bedside table, it leaves enough room for a book or a phone. On a desk, it provides directed light without taking up the entire surface. On a side table in the living room, it adds a warm focal point that complements the general lighting.

The golden beige ribbon shade delivers soft, warm light. When switched on, the light passes through the fabric and creates a more intimate atmosphere, different from that of a direct-light lamp. This makes it suitable for the dining room during after-dinner moments, for a bedroom, or for any corner where you want to reduce the visual intensity of the space.

In terms of compatibility with the surroundings, the lamp works well with dark wood furniture, grey or beige upholstery, and metallic surfaces. It also fits in more modern interiors with clean lines and a neutral palette. It does not need a designer living room to stand out: in a simple room, a lamp like this elevates the final result without having to change anything else.

The SAMBA collection is a modern proposal within the Faro Lab catalogue. This means that behind it lies a development process in which proportion and materials are worked on together. The result is a piece that appears simple but has considered every detail: the relationship between the body height and the shade diameter, the thickness of the steel, the matte finish that does not reflect light in an intrusive way.

For hospitality projects, this lamp meets a common need: a bedside light that is not generic, that gives personality to the space without being extravagant, and that is easy to install and maintain. Its compatibility with voltages from 100 V to 240 V also facilitates its use in different contexts, even outside Spain.

The base and the cable connection port are discreetly integrated. There are no oddly protruding elements or poorly resolved cables. The lamp rests well on any flat surface and its weight of 1.67 kg gives it stability without being heavy.

Questions and answers

Does the SAMBA lamp include an E27 bulb?

No, the bulb is not included. You need to purchase an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W separately. It is a common socket type, available at any lighting store or large retailer.

Is it suitable for use both on a bedside table and on a desk?

Yes. Its height of 360 mm and its compact base of 215 mm make it suitable for both uses. On the bedside table it provides reading light without disturbing, and on the desk it offers a localised light source without taking up too much space.

Is the matte black finish on the steel body resistant to everyday wear and tear?

Steel with a matte black finish is a durable material for indoor use. To keep it in good condition, simply wipe it with a dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical products that could damage the surface.
