Overview

HOSHI is a table lamp created by xJeR Studio for the brand FARO. Its slender silhouette and solid base make it a piece that works well in the bedroom, on a nightstand, or in any corner where a warm, controlled light source is needed. It also fits effortlessly on a desk or on a living room shelf.

What sets this lamp apart is the combination of a slim matte black steel body with a PC shade in an opal finish. The light is distributed softly, without annoying glare. It also features a built-in dimmer on the base that allows you to adjust the intensity according to the time of day or the atmosphere you want to create.

FARO is a company with decades of experience in the lighting industry. Its products combine technical criteria with attention to design, intended for those seeking durable and aesthetically refined solutions for the home.

Installation and specifications

No special tools or electrical work are required to install this lamp. Simply place it on a flat surface and plug it into a standard outlet. Make sure the table or nightstand where you place it is stable and can support the weight of the unit without any issue. The cable should be kept tidy and away from heat sources.

To clean the steel body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. The PC shade should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. Do not disassemble the lamp while it is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The HOSHI lamp has a discreet but defined presence. Its matte black steel body gives it a sober look that does not compete with the rest of the furniture, but rather complements it. On a nightstand, it provides exactly what is needed: a warm, dimmable light source in a compact format. The opal shade diffuses the light evenly, without creating harsh shadows or causing glare.

The dimmer built into the base is one of the most practical details of this lamp. From the same surface where it rests, you can increase or decrease the intensity without getting up or looking for an additional switch. This makes it especially convenient for use on a bedroom nightstand, where reading light and falling-asleep light are two different things.

On a work desk, the lamp also performs without issue. The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light that does not strain the eyes during long sessions. It is not a cold office light, but one that feels closer to home. For those looking for a desk lamp with a calmer, less technical profile, HOSHI is a coherent option.

In the living room, on a console table or a low shelf, the lamp works as an ambient light source. It is not designed to illuminate the entire room, but to create a specific and pleasant pool of light. In a dining room, it can serve as a supplement to the main lighting, adding warmth to one side of the room or on an auxiliary piece of furniture.

The lamp's format makes it compatible with quite different interior styles. Its clean lines and matte black finish work well with modern or Nordic-inspired environments, but also with more eclectic proposals where materials and textures are mixed. It has no decorative elements that tie it to a specific style, making it a versatile piece.

The integrated LED light source does not require regular replacement, which simplifies long-term maintenance. Energy class D indicates moderate consumption for typical domestic use. The universal voltage between 100V and 240V allows it to be used in different countries without additional adapters, which is useful when moving residence or traveling.

The weight of nearly two kilograms gives it real stability on any surface. It does not move easily or tip over if the cable is brushed. The firm base is part of the design, not just a functional element. When placed on a nightstand or desk, it conveys the feeling of being well supported, with no risk of accidents.

Questions and answers

Does the HOSHI lamp include a bulb or its own light source?

Yes, it features an integrated SMD LED light source of 12W and 2700K. There is no need to purchase or install any additional bulb.

Is the intensity dimmer touch or mechanical, and where is it located?

The dimmer is part of the lamp's base. It is integrated directly into it, allowing you to adjust the light intensity without the need for any external accessory or additional installation.

Does the opal PC shade yellow over time or affect the color of the light?

The PC diffuser in an opal finish is designed to distribute light evenly and maintain its properties under normal domestic use. The 2700K color temperature of the integrated LED source already provides a warm tone from the start.
