Overview

The FARO DRUM lamp is a table lamp designed for those looking for a light source that does not draw too much attention, yet adds character to the space. Its matte black steel body and opal finish shade combine well with contemporary settings without feeling overcrowded. It is an option that fits in the bedroom, living room, or on the desk where you read or work.

The DRUM collection was designed by Nahtrang for FARO with a clear idea: that the lamp works equally well in a space with sober design as in a room with simple furniture. It is not a piece that needs to stand out to fulfill its function. The bedside table, the desk, or the side table in the living room are the natural places where this luminaire finds its spot.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior lighting. Its collections combine functionality and aesthetic criteria, with products manufactured to last and to integrate into the home without complications.

Installation and specifications

No special tools are needed to install this lamp. Being a table lamp, it is simply placed on a flat, stable surface, such as a table, a bedside table, or a side unit. Before plugging it in, make sure the mains voltage is compatible with the indicated range. The E27 LED light source is not included, so it is advisable to have a suitable bulb before using the lamp.

To clean the steel body, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive products or liquids that could damage the matte black finish. The opal polycarbonate shade is cleaned in the same way. Do not connect the lamp if the cable has visible damage. Always use a bulb that does not exceed the recommended maximum power of 15 W.

Design and use

The DRUM lamp has a restrained geometry that makes it easy to combine. The matte black steel body is solid and does not accumulate marks easily. The shade made of opal polycarbonate diffuses light gently, without direct glare that bothers the eyes. On the bedside table, that type of lighting is especially comfortable when reading before sleep.

The opal diffuser of this lamp does not create harsh contrasts between lit areas and areas in shadow. The light is distributed evenly around the table or the space where it is placed. This is useful both in the bedroom and in the dining room, where a warmer rather than functional atmosphere is sought. In the living room, placed on a side table, it can act as a secondary light point that complements the general lighting.

The DRUM collection also works well on the desk. It does not take up much space thanks to its diameter of 220 mm and its height of 430 mm, making it practical even on small work tables. The matte black finish does not reflect monitor light, something that is appreciated when working in conditions of low ambient light.

From an aesthetic point of view, the combination of matte black and opal grey diffuser is neutral by definition. It does not compete with other decorative elements, but integrates smoothly. It works alongside light or dark wood furniture, with textiles in earth tones or greys, and also in more minimalist settings where clean design carries more weight. If the rest of the space includes gold or metallic elements, the black steel base acts as a visual counterbalance.

The weight of 1.67 kg gives the lamp a feeling of solidity when placed on any surface. It does not move easily, which is important on the bedside table or on a side table where there may be movement. At the same time, it is not so heavy as to be inconvenient if you want to move it to a different spot.

In the dining room, a table lamp like this can be used to create a more intimate light zone, separate from the main ceiling lighting. On the table, alongside simple decoration, it adds presence without saturating the space.

Compatibility with E27 LED and the voltage range of 100 V to 240 V mean the lamp can be used in different contexts without the need for adapters. The choice of bulb largely determines the final result: a warm-toned LED favors more relaxed atmospheres, while a neutral-toned one is better suited to work or reading areas.

Questions and answers

Does the DRUM lamp include an E27 LED bulb?

No, the bulb is not included. The lamp is compatible with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W, which are purchased separately.

Does the opal polycarbonate diffuser affect the color of the emitted light?

The opal diffuser softens and distributes light evenly, which may give a slightly warmer or more diffused tone depending on the chosen bulb. It does not significantly alter the color, but it eliminates direct glare.

Is it possible to place this lamp on a small surface such as a narrow bedside table?

Yes. The total diameter is 220 mm, which makes it compatible with standard-size bedside tables without taking up too much space on the available surface.
