Overview

The SAMBA pendant lamp by FARO is a piece designed for interior spaces where light and visual style go hand in hand. Its papyrus shade with a white finish and the combination of matte black with a green tone make this ceiling lamp recognizable at first glance. It works well in a large living room, in a bedroom with carefully considered décor, or as a focal point in a dining room. It also fits in hospitality projects, where the visual atmosphere matters as much as functionality.

What sets this pendant lamp apart is its balance between form and purpose. It is not just about lighting, but about defining a space. The matte black steel structure gives it stability and a clean visual character. The papyrus diffuser softens the light, preventing it from feeling harsh or direct. For those looking to refresh a ceiling without unnecessary complications, it is a straightforward option with no excess.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its collections combine aesthetic judgment with materials designed for everyday use. The SAMBA collection is part of the work of Faro Lab, the brand's in-house design division.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this ceiling lamp, make sure the anchor point on the ceiling can support the weight of the assembly. The suspension cable allows the height to be adjusted according to the space: in a dining room, it is recommended to leave the shade at between 70 and 80 cm above the table. If the ceiling is low, adjust the length of the cable so that the pendant lamp does not hang too close to head height. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if the existing wiring needs to be adapted. The accepted voltage ranges from 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and in most countries.

For maintenance, clean the papyrus shade with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products. The matte black steel body can be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid marks. Do not use solvents or sprays directly on the surface. Remember that the lamp does not include a bulb, so choose an E27 LED light source compatible with the maximum indicated wattage.

Design and use

The SAMBA lamp is presented as a suspension luminaire with an oval shape that combines different materials and finishes in a single piece. The papyrus shade, with a white finish on the inside, has an oval silhouette that softens the overall look. Papyrus is a material that filters light in a diffuse way, without harsh cuts or shadows, which is especially useful in rooms where a warm atmosphere without glare is desired.

The matte black steel body acts as the structural frame of the pendant lamp. This finish does not reflect light, allowing the oval shade to be the starring element. In a room with dark furniture or walls in neutral tones, the matte black of the body blends in positively, integrating without competing with other elements. The green detail adds a touch of color that can connect with plants, textiles, or small accessories in the same tone.

In a living room, this ceiling lamp can function as the main lighting when combined with other indirect light sources. Its oval silhouette and papyrus diffuser give it a distinctive visual character without feeling overdone. In a bedroom, placed above the bedside table or in the center of the ceiling, it provides a soft light that does not disturb. In a kitchen with a work area or central island, the oval shape of the shade fits well above elongated surfaces.

The SAMBA collection is also designed for hospitality settings: restaurants, hotels, or workspaces with a defined visual identity. In these contexts, a pendant lamp with its own character helps create recognizable atmospheres. Several units placed in a row above a long table create an orderly visual line. LED compatibility and universal voltage make it easy to use in different countries and types of installation.

As for its synergy with the environment, the green finish and white papyrus connect well with natural materials such as wood, linen, or wicker. In a Nordic space or one with organic references, this ceiling lamp reinforces the aesthetic without forcing it. It can also work in more modern interiors where a point of chromatic contrast is desired. The soft light it projects onto the ceiling and walls creates a uniform atmosphere, ideal for spaces where time is spent resting or in conversation. The bathroom is not the usual context for this type of pendant lamp, although in a large, well-ventilated bathroom it could be installed if conditions allow.

Questions and answers

Can the 5000 mm suspension cable be shortened for standard ceilings?

Yes. The cable comes with a maximum length of 5000 mm, but it can be adjusted during installation to suit the ceiling height. It is recommended that this be done by an electrician to ensure a clean and safe finish.

What type of E27 LED bulb is compatible with this lamp?

The lamp accepts LED light sources with an E27 base and a maximum wattage of 15W. It does not include a bulb, so one must be purchased separately. A warm white LED bulb is recommended to make the most of the papyrus diffuser effect.

Is the oval papyrus shade resistant to everyday use?

Papyrus is a lightweight material that holds up well in dry indoor environments. It is not designed for areas with high humidity or for frequent handling. With basic maintenance, gentle cleaning, and no direct impacts, it retains its shape and color without issue.
