Overview

The SAIGON lamp by FARO is a ceiling pendant luminaire designed for spaces where design matters as much as lighting. Its oval shape and shade made from papyrus strips give it a compact yet eye-catching appearance. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with the rest of the space either — it simply fits in.

It is particularly suitable for residential lighting: dining room, living room, bedroom, guest room, or any area where a characterful light source is desired. It also works very well in hotel lobbies, where a welcoming atmosphere is sought without sacrificing elegance. The pendant is fixed to the ceiling and hangs suspended from a cable that allows the height to be adjusted.

FARO is a European manufacturer with experience in interior and exterior luminaires. Their products combine quality materials with controlled production processes. SAIGON is available in different finishes, making it adaptable to various color combinations and interior styles.

Installation and specifications

To install this ceiling lamp, an electrical outlet in the ceiling or an accessible junction box is required. As it is a pendant luminaire with a total height of nearly 1875 mm, it is advisable to measure the distance from the floor to the mounting point before installation. In spaces with low ceilings, the cable can be shortened if the model allows, or a qualified installer should be consulted. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. The lamp accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in most countries. It does not include a bulb, so an E27 socket LED bulb of up to 15 W must be purchased separately.

To clean the matte black steel body, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The papyrus shade should be cleaned dry with a soft cloth or brush, avoiding any contact with water or chemical products. The cable should not be pulled forcefully, nor should objects be hung from the structure. Periodically checking the condition of the cable and the ceiling fixing point is good practice to ensure secure fastening.

Design and use

The SAIGON lamp features an oval shade made from interwoven papyrus strips that form a compact and uniform surface. The visual result is reminiscent of handcrafted shades from certain Asian or Nordic styles, though without belonging to any particular movement. It has a character of its own. The combination of beige papyrus and the matte black steel structure creates a clean contrast that works well in both light interiors and darker environments.

The steel body is durable and maintains the shape of the pendant without deformation over time. The papyrus shade, for its part, filters light gently, diffusing it sideways and downward without creating harsh reflections or excessive shadow areas. It is a lamp that illuminates with warmth, making it particularly suitable for the dining room or living room, where a pleasant atmosphere for relaxing is desired.

In the bedroom or master bedroom, the SAIGON lamp creates a central light source that is not aggressive. Its oval shape and the natural material of the diffuser contribute to a calmer atmosphere. It is not a task lamp, but an ambient one — ideal for complementing other supporting lights such as wall sconces or floor spotlights.

In the entrance hall of a home or access corridors, the pendant occupies the visual center of the space without overwhelming it. Its 700 mm diameter gives it enough presence for larger spaces, while its lightweight design prevents it from feeling excessive. In hotel lobbies, where first impressions count, this luminaire adds warmth without appearing overdone.

The total installation height can reach 1875 mm, making it a suitable option for standard ceilings between 2.5 and 3 meters. In kitchens with high ceilings, it can function as a central element above an island or table, although its 15 W LED power output is more oriented toward ambient lighting than intense functional lighting.

The combination of matte black and beige allows this lamp to be integrated into interiors with light wood furniture, white or grey surfaces, or even alongside wicker or rattan elements. It also works well in spaces with vintage touches or a Nordic aesthetic, where natural materials and matte finishes are common. It requires no glass to diffuse the light — papyrus fulfills that function with a warmer and more organic result.

Since the bulb is not included, there is freedom to choose the color temperature of the LED. A warm 2700K bulb accentuates the welcoming character of the beige papyrus. A neutral 3000K option offers a balance between ambiance and clarity. Cooler lights do not pair well with this type of shade and are not recommended.

Questions and answers

Is the papyrus diffuser fragile or does it deteriorate with normal use?

Papyrus is a lightweight material but sufficiently resistant for indoor use under normal conditions. It is not intended for high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, where accumulated moisture can affect the material over time. In dry spaces, it maintains its shape and color with minimal maintenance.

Is the SAIGON lamp compatible with standard socket bulbs?

Yes, it uses an E27 socket, which is the most common on the market. It accepts LED bulbs of up to 15 W. The bulb is not included in the package, so it must be purchased separately before installation.

Does the pendant cable allow the height of the lamp to be adjusted?

The total installed height can reach 1875 mm. If a lower height is needed, it is advisable to consult an electrician to safely shorten or coil the cable during assembly, depending on the options available for the specific model.
