Overview

The FARO PLAT 7L lamp is a ceiling pendant luminaire with seven light points, designed for spaces where the visible bulb is part of the design. There are no shades hiding the light source: each point is exposed, and that is exactly what this type of proposal aims for. The result is a clean, striking ensemble that needs no embellishment to stand out.

It works especially well in large rooms: a living room with high ceilings, a dining room where the table is the centre of the space, or a kitchen with an island that needs distributed lighting. The seven-light version covers a generous surface area without concentrating all the light at a single point.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine quality materials with lines designed to stand the test of time, without depending on trends that change every season.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the pendant lamp, check that the ceiling point where it will be fixed is enabled to support a suspension luminaire and that the wiring is accessible. The cable of this lamp reaches 5000 mm in length, allowing the height to be adjusted with plenty of margin. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or a person with experience in electrical assembly. Always disconnect the power before handling any element of the wiring.

To clean the steel body in matte black finish, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. Do not handle the bulbs with unprotected hands: the natural grease from skin can affect the surface of the sockets over time. Periodically check that all connections are in good condition.

Design and use

The PLAT 7L lamp has a steel structure with a matte black finish. This finish is one of the most versatile in interior lighting: it does not reflect light directly, does not easily accumulate visible fingerprints, and integrates effortlessly into a wide variety of environments. The shape of the multiple canopy groups the seven arms from a single ceiling point, which gives coherence to the ensemble and prevents the installation from looking cluttered.

The style of this pendant luminaire is classic and simple. The bulb is left exposed, with no diffuser or shade to cover it. This makes the bulb itself part of the design: a visible filament bulb, for example, adds a touch of visual warmth to the atmosphere. The option to choose between two available colours makes it easy to adapt to the Scandinavian style, where contrast between light materials and dark elements is common.

In the dining room, a lamp of these characteristics works as a central element above the table. The seven lights distribute illumination in a balanced way, without leaving areas in shadow. In a kitchen with enough space for a ceiling luminaire of this size, the effect is similar: a clear presence, without interfering with work. For a Nordic-style room with white walls and simple-lined furniture, the matte black body acts as a visual anchor point.

In the living room, a seven-light pendant lamp can be the sole main focus or complement wall or floor lighting. The adjustable cable height, of up to five metres, allows it to be adapted to very high ceilings without the ensemble losing proportion. In spaces with low ceilings, the same adjustment capability allows it to be raised enough so that it does not feel intrusive.

The oval design of the base and the arrangement of the arms means the lamp occupies a horizontal space of 500 x 500 mm. This is a dimension that allows it to be installed in living rooms and dining rooms without appearing either too small or disproportionate. In a medium-sized room, that dimension covers the central area well without dominating the space.

This luminaire accepts E27 LED bulbs, which are now available in a very wide variety of colour temperatures and designs. From warm light bulbs reminiscent of traditional filaments to more neutral options for workspaces or reading. The choice of bulb directly influences the atmosphere the lamp creates in each room. The modern version of LED bulbs also reduces consumption compared to options from years past, which is a practical aspect to bear in mind.

The bathroom is not the usual space for a seven-light pendant lamp, but in large bathrooms or dressing rooms with sufficient height, this type of luminaire can work well if the protection rating permits it. In any case, always consult the installation specifications according to the damp zone before deciding on the location.

The compatibility of this lamp with the Scandinavian and Nordic style also makes it suitable for home workspaces, reading areas or wide hallways where a touch of character is sought without overloading the atmosphere. The matte black and multiple lights form a combination that stands the test of time without looking out of place.

Questions and answers

Can the cable of the PLAT 7L lamp be shortened for lower ceilings?

The cable has a maximum length of 5000 mm, allowing the height to be adjusted with ample margin. In most domestic installations, the cable is partially gathered in the canopy or adjusted during assembly to adapt it to the desired ceiling height.

How many E27 sockets does this lamp have and what is the maximum power per light point?

The PLAT 7L lamp has seven E27 sockets, one for each light point on the multiple canopy. The indicated maximum power is 15 W per light point.

Is the matte black finish of the steel body resistant to scratches and marks?

The matte black finish is less prone to showing fingerprints than a glossy finish, and steel as a base material is resistant to everyday use. To keep it in good condition, periodic cleaning with a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient, avoiding abrasive products.
