Overview

The KOMBO lamp by FARO is a hanging ceiling luminaire designed for those looking for a light source that doesn't draw too much attention, but is well executed. The beige metallic-finish shade and the cylindrical matte black structure work together to deliver a clean result, without excess. It is a piece that fits effortlessly into domestic spaces: a dining room used every day, a bedroom with simple furniture, or a kitchen that doesn't need grand decorative gestures.

The KOMBO series was born from the design studio Nutcreatives and was developed under the umbrella of FARO, a Spanish brand with a long track record in interior lighting. What sets this lamp family apart is the visual consistency between sizes and finishes, and the ability to adapt without forcing the style of the space.

This version features a multiple canopy for one light, has a diameter of 200 mm and a weight of 1.67 kg.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp on the ceiling, an existing junction box or ceiling outlet is required. The multiple canopy is fixed directly to the ceiling and covers the cable outlet. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if no ceiling outlet is already in place. Before any work, the power supply must be switched off at the main panel. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately, respecting the 15 W limit.

To clean the metal shade, a dry or slightly damp cloth can be used. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. The matte black structure may accumulate dust over time; a soft cloth is sufficient to keep it in good condition. Do not handle the lamp while connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The KOMBO lamp has an oval shape overall, although the shade features a cylindrical profile that gives it visual solidity. That oval shape is not arbitrary: it allows light to be distributed downward in a concentrated manner, creating a warm and defined atmosphere beneath the installation point. The 200 mm diameter makes it suitable for medium-sized spaces, where a larger lamp would be excessive.

The shade is made of metal with a beige finish. It is a color that does not compete with its surroundings, but instead integrates naturally with white, grey, or warm-toned walls. The upper part, the cylinder that connects to the canopy, is in matte black, a contrast that gives it presence without being eye-catching. The oval silhouette of the whole makes the lamp recognizable without being the centerpiece.

In the dining room, this pendant lamp can be installed above the table to create a more intimate atmosphere during meals. The adjustable height allows the distance to the work surface to be adjusted according to the needs of the space. In the kitchen, it can be placed above an island or countertop to concentrate light where it is most needed. Being a ceiling luminaire, it takes up no surface space and does not interfere with daily movement.

In the bedroom, a lamp of this type can replace conventional bedside lamps if installed at the right height. The LED light this luminaire accepts allows warm tones to be chosen that promote rest. In the living room, it can be combined with other light sources to create different atmospheres depending on the time of day.

The lamp also works well in hallways or transitional rooms where intense lighting is not needed but a well-defined light source is. Its compact scale and oval profile make it versatile in smaller spaces where bulkier lamps would not fit.

The matte black finish of the structure does not show marks easily and maintains a neat appearance for a long time. The beige metal shade has good resistance to everyday use. Although it is not a lamp for the bathroom, it can be placed in dry areas of the home without any issue.

Within the same KOMBO family there are other versions with different sizes and light configurations, making it easy to create a coherent composition in different areas of the home using the same line. The oval shape and shared color palette mean the different versions work well together.

Questions and answers

Does the multiple canopy allow the lamp to be installed on ceilings with an existing cable outlet?

Yes. The multiple canopy is designed to be fixed directly to the ceiling over an existing junction box or ceiling outlet. It covers the cable outlet and integrates into the ceiling without the need for additional structures.

What type of bulb is compatible with this pendant lamp?

It accepts an E27 base bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. The LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. It is compatible with the voltage range 100V–240V.

Does the oval shade affect the direction of the light?

The oval shape of the shade directs light primarily downward, making it suitable for illuminating specific surfaces such as a table or countertop. It is not designed to illuminate an entire space in a general way, but rather to create a defined focal point of light.
