Overview

The KOMBO lamp by FARO is a suspension luminaire designed for interior spaces where visual order matters. Its cylindrical shape, matte black finish, and grey metal shade make it easy to integrate into different types of environments without standing out too much or going unnoticed.

This version features a multiple canopy with 5 lights, making it a practical option for illuminating large dining tables, kitchen spaces with a central island, or any area where distributed light from the ceiling is needed. The set measures 20 cm in diameter and the cable allows the height to be adjusted according to the needs of the space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in designing luminaires for interiors and exteriors. The KOMBO series was developed together with the Nutcreatives studio and combines simple geometry with finishes that adapt well to modern interiors as well as more classic or transitional aesthetics.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, a ceiling box capable of supporting at least 2 kg is required. The multiple canopy is fixed directly to the ceiling and the cable has a length of 5000 mm, which can be trimmed or adjusted during installation. It is recommended that assembly be carried out by a certified electrician. Before starting any electrical work, it is essential to cut the power supply at the main panel. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100V and 240V, so it works without adapters in most domestic installations.

The metal shade is cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish should not be used. The E27 LED light source is not included and is purchased separately. To maintain good light output, it is recommended not to exceed 15 W of power at each light point.

Design and use

The KOMBO series starts from a very specific formal idea: a matte black cylinder at the top and a geometric shade in grey that organises and directs light downward. This combination results in a pendant lamp with its own character, though without being ostentatious. It is not a piece that seeks to be the centre of attention, but one that works well within an ensemble.

The upper structure is made of steel with a matte black finish, a material that provides solidity and a clean visual presence. The grey metal shade follows that same geometric logic and creates a subtle contrast with the black of the body. The result is a ceiling luminaire that feels balanced, without decorative excess.

The 5-light version with a multiple canopy is designed to distribute illumination over a wider area. It is a good solution for the dining room, especially when the table has a considerable length. It also works well in modern kitchens with bars or islands, where focused light over a work surface is needed. In a medium-sized living room, five light points suspended from the ceiling create a uniform atmosphere without relying on recessed spotlights.

In bedrooms with high ceilings, a lamp of this type can replace the standard flush mount and add some visual volume to the space. In smaller rooms, the multiple canopy may be too much for the environment, so it is worth assessing the dimensions before choosing this version. In the bathroom, as long as the safety requirements for the zone are met, a luminaire like this can work above a large mirror or in bathrooms of generous dimensions.

The KOMBO series is available in different sizes and finishes, all with the same cylindrical upper structure in black. This makes it possible to combine several pieces from the same family in a single space without the result feeling cluttered. In a long hallway, for example, placing several units in a line provides visual continuity and maintains the coherence of the ensemble.

The geometric design of the shade fits well with contemporary interiors, but also with spaces of a more sober or industrial aesthetic. Matte black is a finish that does not reflect light and over time maintains its appearance better than glossy finishes. The grey shade complements that tone without creating an aggressive contrast.

The compatible light source is E27 LED. Although the bulb is not included, compatibility with LED allows control of consumption and colour temperature according to the use of each room. For the dining room or living room, warm light is usually the most common choice. In the kitchen or work areas, a more neutral temperature may be more functional.

Questions and answers

Can the 5000 mm cable be shortened if the ceiling is low?

Yes. The cable has a maximum length of 5000 mm but can be adjusted during installation according to the ceiling height. It is common for the electrician to trim it and finish it inside the canopy to leave the pendant lamp at the desired height.

How many E27 LED bulbs does this model accept?

This version has a multiple canopy with 5 lights, so it accepts up to 5 E27 LED bulbs, with a maximum power of 15 W per light point. The light sources are not included and are purchased separately.

Does the matte black finish on the structure require any special care?

The matte black finish on steel is resistant to normal use. To clean it, a dry or barely damp cloth is sufficient. Abrasive or aggressive chemical products that could alter the surface over time should be avoided.
