Overview

CLAIRE is a hanging ceiling lamp designed for those looking for more than just lighting. Its circular silhouette with a metal structure and partial grille section conveys a sense of order and character at the same time. Inspired by the lights that hung over fishing boats, it combines a functional origin with an aesthetic that fits well in contemporary interiors.

This ceiling lamp works well in a dining room where a clear focal point is desired, in a kitchen with a defined style, or in a living room where different textures coexist. The glossy black finish gives it presence without feeling heavy. The grille adds an industrial or vintage touch depending on how the rest of the space is decorated.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Their products combine technical criteria with attention to design, considering both the installation process and the final result within the home.

Installation and specifications

To install this hanging lamp on the ceiling, an already-installed electrical junction box is required. The fixing point must support the weight of the unit without any play. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially when working with plaster ceilings or older installations. Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the indicated range before connecting.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the glossy black finish of the metal structure. Before any cleaning, disconnect the light and wait for it to cool down completely.

Design and use

The CLAIRE lamp starts from a simple idea: to recover the shape of the lights that illuminated fishing boats and bring it into a domestic interior. The result is a hanging lamp with a round steel structure and a grille section that recalls those everyday-use pieces, without artifice or added decoration.

The body is entirely steel with a glossy black finish. This type of finish slightly reflects light and gives the piece a clean appearance. It is not an oval lamp in its overall silhouette, although the circular base and grille design create a rounded visual effect that integrates well in spaces with defined lines. When oval is mentioned in the context of this piece, it refers to the perception generated by its body from certain angles, where the shape appears to widen slightly.

In the kitchen, CLAIRE works particularly well above an island or a work table. The adjustable cable height allows the light point to be set according to need. In a dining room, placed above the table, it acts as an element that visually organizes the space. It hangs just low enough to define the area without blocking the line of sight between seated people.

In a bedroom it can be used as a suspended bedside lamp hanging from the ceiling, freeing up space on the nightstand. It also fits in a reading or work room, where direct light is needed without the lamp taking up surface area. In the living room, a single unit may be sufficient as the main lighting point if the space is not very large, or it can be combined with other light sources for a more balanced result.

The grille design connects visually with industrial styles, but does not look out of place in more modern interiors or those with natural wood elements. The black finish works well with concrete surfaces, brushed metal, or dark wood. It can also function as a contrast in bright spaces, where the lamp becomes the only dark element in the composition.

The CLAIRE hanging lamp accepts an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W. Since the bulb is not included, the user can choose the color temperature that best suits each space. Warm light favors more relaxed atmospheres; neutral light is more suitable for work areas or kitchens.

Although this luminaire is not specifically designed for bathrooms or hallways, its compact size — 165 mm in diameter — makes it viable in narrower spaces where a larger lamp would be disproportionate. In a well-ventilated bathroom without direct exposure to humidity, it could be integrated with care, though it is always advisable to verify the conditions of the space before installing it in that environment.

Nautically inspired lights have a long tradition in interior design. What sets CLAIRE apart is that it does not fall into literal imitation, but rather takes that reference and simplifies it until it yields a piece that works in very different contexts without losing its character.

Questions and answers

Does the CLAIRE lamp include an E27 LED bulb in the box?

No. The lamp is sold without a bulb. You need to purchase separately a bulb with an E27 base and a maximum power of 15 W. You can choose warm or cool light LED depending on the atmosphere you want to create.

Does the suspension cable allow the height of the lamp to be adjusted?

The total height of the unit is 1640 mm. Before installing, verify that this measurement is compatible with your ceiling height so that the lamp is at the correct distance from the floor or the surface below.

Is the grille section of CLAIRE made from the same material as the main body?

Yes. Both the round structure and the grille section are made of steel with a glossy black finish. The entire lamp is metallic, with no glass, plastic, or any other additional materials.
