Overview

The TOM 220 wall light by FARO is a wall-mounted lamp designed for outdoor spaces. It is installed directly on the wall and provides soft, uniform lighting thanks to its opal glass diffuser. It is an option designed for those who want to illuminate the garden, terrace, or home entrance without resorting to bulky or complicated solutions to install.

The matte white body integrates easily with light-colored facades and whitewashed walls. The round shape and clean finish make this wall light work both in classic-style exteriors and in more contemporary environments. The lamp includes a built-in LED light source, so there is no need to worry about purchasing a bulb separately.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine careful design with materials built to last, both indoors and in outdoor installations.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, check that the wall surface is clean, dry, and free of cracks. As an outdoor wall-mounted luminaire, it is important that the wiring is protected and that the junction box is properly sealed to prevent moisture ingress. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is best to hire an electrician. Use the appropriate screws for the wall type — expansion plug for masonry, direct fixing for wood.

To clean the lamp body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the matte white finish of the ABS body. The PC diffuser is cleaned in the same way. Do not handle the wall light while the power is connected. Periodically check that the wall fixing points remain secure.

Design and use

The TOM 220 is a wall light with a round, compact design that fits well in outdoor spaces where visual order is desired. The lamp measures 220 mm in diameter and only 60 mm in depth, so it does not protrude too much from the wall. This discreet profile is an advantage when the space between the facade and foot traffic is limited.

The body is made of ABS, a material resistant to impact and stable against temperature variations. The matte white finish does not draw excessive attention — it simply blends with the wall and lets the light be the main element. On light-colored facades or whitewashed walls, the wall light practically disappears during the day.

The diffuser is made of polycarbonate (PC) with an opal finish. This type of diffuser does not allow the light point to be seen directly, which prevents glare when looking at the lamp from the front. The light it produces is diffuse and enveloping, without areas of strong contrast. This effect is especially pleasant in the garden or on the terrace at night, when a calm atmosphere is sought rather than intense functional lighting.

The SMD LED light source is included and operates at 3000K, a warm color temperature reminiscent of traditional incandescent light. This tone is more compatible with the garden's plant environment and creates a more welcoming atmosphere than cool white light. With 11W of power, the lamp provides sufficient light to illuminate an entrance, a patio corner, or the side of a terrace.

The TOM 220 wall light works especially well when several are installed in a row, for example along a facade or bordering an access path. This repetition of luminaires creates an orderly visual line that defines the space without the need for other decorative elements. It can also be combined with a ground spotlight aimed at the vegetation or with a ceiling lamp in covered porches, to achieve multiple light planes.

On a terrace, the wall light serves to mark the perimeter and give a sense of depth without the need to install ceiling luminaires. In a garden with street access, it can serve as a light point next to the door or on the boundary wall. In interior courtyards with little natural light, this type of wall light helps the space feel livable at night as well.

The combination of materials — ABS for the body and PC for the diffuser — makes the lamp lightweight without losing solidity. The total weight is just over half a kilogram, which simplifies installation and does not require special anchoring in most cases.

Questions and answers

Does the TOM 220 wall light include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the integrated SMD LED light source. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb before installing it.

What is the color temperature of the light emitted by this wall light?

It operates at 3000K, which corresponds to warm white light. It is a soft tone, similar to incandescent light, suitable for garden or terrace environments where a welcoming effect is desired.

Does the opal diffuser of the TOM 220 prevent glare when looking directly at the lamp?

Yes. The polycarbonate diffuser with opal finish disperses light uniformly and covers the LED point, so there is no visible light source when looking at the wall light from the front.
