Overview

PALS is a wall light designed for outdoor use, intended to illuminate entrances, facades, terraces and garden areas where stable lighting that is resistant to weather conditions is needed. Its aluminium body and IP65 protection make it suitable for spaces exposed to rain and dust, without affecting its performance.

The lamp combines an opal glass diffuser with a dark grey finish that blends well with walls of different materials. The wall light does not include a bulb, allowing you to choose an E27 LED light source according to the needs of each space.

FARO is a lighting company with extensive experience in designing luminaires for domestic and architectural use. The Faro Lab line, to which PALS belongs, is focused on outdoor lighting solutions with a clear emphasis on durability and functionality.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure that the electrical installation in the wall is prepared for an outdoor lamp. It is recommended that the assembly be carried out by a qualified electrician, as the wall light is fixed directly onto the wall surface and requires connection to the mains. Check that the structural support is adequate for the weight of the product. Also make sure that the wall junction box is properly sealed before installing the wall light, to maintain the integrity of the IP65 protection.

For cleaning the aluminium body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The opal glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or minimally damp cloth. Do not direct jets of water directly onto the joints or the inside of the wall light. Although the IP65 rating offers protection against rain, pressure cleaning is not recommended.

Design and use

The PALS wall light has a compact and balanced design, with dimensions of 260 mm in height, 250 mm in length and 250 mm in depth. These measurements place it at an intermediate size, suitable both for large garden walls and for more contained spaces such as an entrance or a side porch.

The body made of aluminium provides solidity without adding excessive weight. At 1.7 kg, the lamp is manageable during installation and does not require special anchoring beyond what is usual for an outdoor wall light. Aluminium also does not rust with exposure to moisture, which contributes to the product's lifespan in outdoor conditions.

The dark grey finish is one of the most versatile aspects of the wall light. This shade adapts well to stone facades, exposed concrete, dark brick or modern cladding in neutral tones. It does not draw excessive attention, but it does not go unnoticed either: it fits coherently into the environment without looking out of place. For those who prefer a lighter look, the wall light is also available in white, allowing it to be integrated into light-coloured surfaces or brighter environments.

The opal glass diffuser distributes light evenly outward, without creating glare spots or shadowed areas. This is especially useful when the lamp is positioned at eye level, as is frequently the case in entrances or outdoor corridors. The light it projects is diffuse and constant, which promotes comfortable visibility without being harsh.

The E27 LED type bulb, not included, allows you to choose the colour temperature and power of up to 15 W according to the use. A warm white LED can create a more welcoming atmosphere on a terrace or in a garden, while a neutral light is more practical for passageways. By working with a universal voltage of 100V to 240V, the lamp is compatible with electrical installations in different countries without the need for adapters.

The IP65 protection ensures that the wall light is resistant to dust and water jets from all directions, making it suitable for installations directly exposed to sun and rain. This makes it a reliable option for facades without a protective overhang or gardens where the weather can change quickly. The IK06 impact resistance adds an extra layer of reassurance in areas with greater activity, such as garage entrances or frequently used passageways.

In terms of use contexts, the wall light works well both in individual installations and in groups of several luminaires arranged along a wall, a garden path or a terrace. Combined with other luminaires from the same range or with similar finishes, it can create coherent lighting for the exterior of the home. It can also complement other elements such as a floor-standing lantern in the garden or recessed ground spotlights, without there being a stark contrast between the different light points.

A motion sensor is not an integrated feature in this model, but the wall light is compatible with E27 bulbs that include a built-in detector, if that functionality is desired. In this way, movement in the illuminated area can activate the light automatically without the need to modify the electrical installation.

Questions and answers

Can the PALS wall light be installed on a wall without an overhang, directly exposed to rain and sun?

Yes. The IP65 protection rating of the wall light ensures that water in all its forms, including direct rain, does not affect the functioning of the lamp. It is suitable for outdoor installation without additional overhead protection.

What type of bulb does this wall light require and what is the maximum permitted wattage?

The wall light uses a bulb with an E27 socket, which is not included. The maximum permitted wattage is 15 W. The use of an E27 LED bulb is recommended for greater energy efficiency.

Is the IK06 impact resistance sufficient for a regularly used passageway, such as an entrance or a garage?

The IK06 rating indicates that the wall light can withstand impacts of up to 1 joule of energy. This makes it suitable for regularly used passageways where minor scrapes or impacts may occur, although it is not designed for environments with exposure to strong or repeated impacts.
