Overview

The LAKO wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor spaces. It is installed on facades, walls and surfaces where functional and discreet lighting is needed. The aluminum body and prismatic glass diffuser allow this luminaire to withstand outdoor conditions without losing its clean appearance over time.

The IP65 protection ensures that the wall light is not affected by rain, dust or airborne dirt. This makes it a suitable option for house entrances, terraces, gardens and any uncovered area exposed to the elements. The light is projected at a 90-degree angle to one side only, allowing it to be directed exactly where needed, without unnecessary dispersion.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires. Its catalogue includes proposals for both indoor and outdoor use, and the LAKO wall light reflects that knowledge: materials designed to last, careful finishes and a design that fits in without drawing too much attention.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. The wall light is fixed directly to the wall using the corresponding anchors. Before starting, check that the surface is solid and can support the weight of the wall light. Disconnect the power supply before making any connections. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is best to have it done by an electrician. As this is an outdoor lamp, make sure the wiring is also protected against moisture.

Use and maintenance. To clean the surface of the wall light, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the rust brown aluminum finish. Although the wall light has IP65 protection, do not submerge it in water or expose it to direct pressurized jets. Periodically check that the sealing and anchors are still in good condition, especially after periods of heavy rain or strong wind.

Design and use

The LAKO wall light has a compact profile that adapts well to different types of walls, from rustic cladding to smoother, more contemporary facades. The rust brown finish gives it a warm, earthy tone that does not look out of place in natural settings or in constructions featuring materials such as wood, stone or exposed brick. It is a wall light that does not seek to stand out, but does add character to the space where it is installed.

The aluminum body is both lightweight and resistant. It does not rust or deform with temperature changes, which is especially relevant outdoors where sun, rain and cold alternate throughout the year. The prismatic glass diffuser protects the interior of the wall light and distributes the light gently, without excessive bright spots or harsh shadows.

The integrated LED technology operates at 3000K, a warm color temperature that feels welcoming and natural. This tone works well at house entrances, on the sides of garden doors, above walls that border a terrace or on the facade of a home. It does not produce the cold, clinical light that can feel uncomfortable in frequently used passageways or in spaces where a calm atmosphere is desired at nightfall.

The 90-degree projection angle means the light goes in one direction only. This allows it to illuminate a specific area, such as the ground in front of a door or the surface of a wall, without the light dispersing where it is not needed. In a garden, for example, it can be aimed at a path or a walkway. On a terrace, it can be installed to illuminate the seating area without disturbing those outside the focal point.

The LAKO wall light does not include a motion sensor, meaning it operates continuously while switched on. This is an advantage in situations where constant light is preferred, such as in permanently busy entrances or in areas where the intermittent light of a detector could be bothersome. For those looking for a wall light with a sensor, other models in the FARO catalogue incorporate that function.

As for installation, the wall light is mounted on a wall simply. Its weight of 0.7 kg requires no special reinforcement in the structure. The compact dimensions, with only 220 mm in length and 48 mm in height, make it useful even in spaces where there is little room between architectural elements. It does not take up space or draw excessive attention, but it performs its function well.

The rust brown finish combines well with earth tones, warm greys and natural materials. On a stone facade or a brick wall, this wall light integrates easily. It also works in more modern constructions if the overall design opts for neutral color palettes and matte finishes.

Questions and answers

Does the LAKO wall light withstand direct rain if installed on a completely exposed outdoor wall?

Yes. The wall light has IP65 certification, which guarantees complete protection against dust and against water jets from any direction. It is suitable for installation in outdoor areas without cover, although it is recommended to avoid exposure to high-pressure water jets, such as those from a cleaning hose.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included in the wall light. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb or make any adjustments before connecting it.

Does the LAKO wall light illuminate in all directions or only to one side?

The light is projected only at a 90-degree angle to one side. This allows it to be aimed precisely at a specific area, such as the ground, a door or a path, without any light dispersing in other directions.
