Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It is mounted directly on the wall and offers unidirectional or bidirectional lighting, depending on the chosen configuration. It is a suitable option for entrances, facades, terraces and gardens where clean, well-directed light is desired.

What sets this wall light apart is its direct and indirect lighting system with a recessed light source. This prevents glare and distributes light in a controlled manner. The design allows you to choose between two emission angles, providing some flexibility when adapting it to the space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long history in lighting. Their outdoor luminaires are designed to last under real conditions of use, with materials and finishes that hold up well over time.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is recommended to fix the wall light onto a flat, solid surface. As this is an outdoor lamp, it is important that the anchors are well sealed to prevent moisture from entering through the fixing points. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified professional. Before any intervention, always disconnect the power from the main panel.

For maintenance, simply clean the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or those containing solvents that could damage the white aluminium finish. Periodically check that there is no accumulation of dirt in the drainage areas of the integrated system.

Design and use

The KOV wall light is an outdoor wall lamp with a square design and white finish. The housing is made of aluminium, a material that combines lightness with durability. In outdoor spaces, this makes a difference: aluminium does not oxidise easily and maintains its appearance through the changing seasons.

The COB LED light source is included and operates at a colour temperature of 3000K, a warm tone that is pleasant to the eye. It does not produce the coldness of intense white light nor the excessive warmth of traditional yellow. It is a middle ground that works well both at entrances and in garden or terrace areas.

One of the most useful features of this lamp is the ability to choose the light emission angle: 34 degrees upward, 34 degrees downward, or both at the same time. This allows you to decide whether the light beam is directed at the ground, the ceiling, or in both directions. For an entrance, for example, it may be preferable to illuminate the door from below. For a terrace, the bidirectional option can give greater breadth to the illuminated space.

The wall light can be mounted in both vertical and horizontal positions. This flexibility makes it compatible with different facade or wall configurations, without needing to adapt the installation to the product.

The integrated drainage system is a technical detail that has a direct impact on durability. In areas with frequent rainfall, water can accumulate inside luminaires and cause damage over time. The KOV design is intended to prevent this, with channels that allow water to drain away without being retained.

For spaces such as a garden or terrace, this wall light integrates well alongside other clean-lined luminaires. It does not compete visually with the surroundings, but rather adapts to them. Its compact profile, with just 87 mm of depth, means it does not protrude too much from the wall.

On facades where several light points are installed, the horizontal mounting option can help create a neater continuous line. The vertical mounting, on the other hand, works well when the wall light is used alone or in pairs on either side of a door or window.

The net weight of 1.23 kg indicates that no special anchors are needed for standard walls. On plasterboard or drywall, it is advisable to use anchors suitable for that material. On brick or concrete walls, standard fixings are sufficient.

The 2x6W power output keeps consumption moderate. For typical outdoor use, with nightly operation for several hours, the impact on the electricity bill is low. If combined with a motion sensor or external detector, consumption can be reduced further, although the wall light itself does not include such a system.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be installed in a horizontal position as well as vertical?

Yes. The design allows the lamp to be mounted both vertically and horizontally, making it easy to adapt to different wall or facade configurations without modifying the installation.

What is the colour temperature of the included LED source and what type of light does it produce?

The included COB LED source operates at 3000K. It is a warm white light, softer than neutral or cool light, suitable for entrances, gardens and terraces where a pleasant atmosphere without glare is desired.

Does the drainage system work in any mounting orientation?

The drainage system is integrated into the wall light's design to prevent water from pooling in the vertical position. If mounted horizontally, it is recommended to verify with the installer that the chosen orientation does not compromise the functioning of the drainage system.
