Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It works well at house entrances, facades, covered corridors, garages, or any outdoor area where focused and clean lighting is needed. Its compact size also makes it suitable for tight spaces where a larger lamp would not fit.

What sets this wall light apart is the combination of direct and indirect light with an integrated and recessed COB LED source. This means there is no glare when looking toward the light: the light is perceived comfortably, without the bright-spot sensation that many outdoor luminaires produce. In addition, it can be installed in a vertical or horizontal position, and offers unidirectional or bidirectional lighting depending on the need.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires. Their outdoor products are designed to withstand real-world conditions: temperature changes, humidity, and prolonged sun exposure.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a standard recessed wall box or a flat surface with cable outlet is required. The wall light is mounted directly onto the wall with the included anchors. Since this is an outdoor lamp, it is recommended that the electrical connection be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if the installation is exposed to rain or humidity. Before starting, make sure to cut the power supply from the distribution panel.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminium surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish. As a safety measure, do not handle the lamp while it is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The KOV wall light features a square-lined design with restrained geometry. Its body is made of aluminium with a matte black finish, giving it a technical and neat appearance that integrates well with both modern facades and walls with a more sober aesthetic. Aluminium is a material that tolerates sun exposure, rain, and temperature changes well without warping or losing its finish over time.

One of the most relevant details of this lamp is its built-in drainage system. In an outdoor luminaire, water that penetrates through condensation or rain can accumulate inside and cause damage. This wall light is designed to evacuate that water passively, without the need for additional maintenance. It is a technical solution that extends the product's lifespan under real-world conditions.

The COB LED light source is recessed inside the body of the wall light. This has a direct effect on the visual experience: from any lateral viewing angle, the light source is not aggressive. It is especially useful in passageways, such as entrances or terrace porches, where people may be at the same height as the wall light and experience glare directly.

The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent lamp. This tone is favorable for garden settings, residential entrances, and outdoor relaxation spaces, where a cool light would give a more industrial and less welcoming feel. With a 23° angle, the projection is concentrated, allowing specific surfaces to be illuminated: a door number, an access area, the side of a wall, or an ornamental plant.

The possibility of mounting it vertically or horizontally expands installation options. On a narrow wall between two windows it can be placed vertically; above a door lintel, horizontally. This flexibility is useful when the available space determines the orientation of the wall light.

As for the use environment, this lamp fits well on single-family home facades, in gardens with accent lighting, in covered terrace areas, and at garage entrances. It can also be used in small retail or commercial projects with outdoor space, where functional lighting without complex decorative elements is sought. Its compact profile, with only 108 mm in height and 87 mm in depth, means it does not protrude excessively from the wall, which is an advantage on facades with little relief.

Questions and answers

Can this wall light be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions?

Yes. The design of the KOV wall light allows it to be mounted in either orientation without affecting its performance or its sealing. The choice depends on the available space on the wall and the direction in which the light is to be projected.

Does the wall light include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED light source is included. It is not necessary to purchase it separately or make any prior adaptation to turn on the wall light once installed.

What is the purpose of the drainage system incorporated in this outdoor wall light?

The drainage system allows water that may accumulate inside the lamp through condensation or rain to be evacuated. This prevents water from pooling, which could damage the internal components and reduce the lifespan of the wall light over time.
