Overview

The DUNE wall light by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed for wall mounting. Its rectangular format and matte white finish make it suitable for entrances, access areas, terraces, or any outdoor area where clear, well-positioned lighting is needed. It is not a decorative lamp in the strict sense: its main function is to illuminate a specific point with precision, whether that is a house number on a façade, a door, or an outdoor corridor.

What sets this wall light apart is the ability to choose from four different color temperatures using a switch integrated into the unit itself. This means that before installing it, you can decide whether you prefer warmer or cooler light depending on the atmosphere you want to create. There is no need to change anything afterwards.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products are designed to withstand continuous use in real conditions, with materials and finishes selected for that purpose.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, it is recommended to have a prepared power outlet or existing wiring at the mounting point. As a surface-mounted lamp, it is fixed directly onto the wall with the corresponding anchors. Before starting, make sure the power supply is switched off. If you have no experience with electrical installations, the most prudent course of action is to hire an electrician.

To clean the aluminum housing, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte white finish. The PC diffuser is cleaned in the same way. Do not direct jets of water directly onto the lamp during cleaning.

Design and use

The DUNE wall light has a very compact profile: 200 mm long, 80 mm high, and just 32 mm deep. This makes it a lamp that takes up little visual space on the wall while still performing its task well. The body is aluminum with a matte white finish, a material that withstands temperature variations and prolonged sun exposure without warping or losing its color.

The diffuser is made of transparent polycarbonate. It allows light to pass through without filtering or diffusing it excessively, which is appropriate for signage lighting: the goal is for what lies ahead to be clearly visible, not to create a soft or subdued atmosphere. The light source is an SMD LED type, already included in the unit. Nothing additional needs to be purchased to put it into operation.

The most practical feature of this wall light is the color temperature selector. With an integrated switch, you can choose between 2200K, 2700K, 3200K, or 4000K before installation. The difference between these options is quite noticeable: 2200K produces a very warm light, close to the tone of a candle; 4000K is a neutral, whiter light that makes it easier to read signs or identify objects. The intermediate temperatures offer different balance points between warmth and clarity.

This wall light is installed on a wall and faces outward. It works well at residential entrances, gardens, garage access areas, terraces, or outdoor staircases. It can also be used on the façade as a discreet signage element. Its small size means it does not draw too much attention during the day, but fulfills its function when night falls.

As an aluminum lamp with a lacquered finish, it combines well with other outdoor elements in neutral tones. At an entrance with light-colored walls or natural stone cladding, the matte white blends in without clashing. It also works well with white or light gray window and door frames. Its straight, unadorned lines make it compatible with both contemporary-designed exteriors and simpler façades.

The light source has low energy consumption, with a power of 6 W. For a signage lamp, that is sufficient. It is not designed to illuminate large surfaces, but to orient, signal, or create a recognizable point of light at an access point or in the garden. The reduced consumption also means it can remain on for hours without a significant impact on the electricity bill.

The total weight is 0.44 kg, which makes installation straightforward without the need for special wall reinforcements. The 32 mm depth ensures that, although the wall light protrudes from the wall, it does so discreetly and does not interfere with passage.

Questions and answers

Can the switch for changing the color temperature be used after the wall light has been installed?

The selector is designed to be configured before final installation. Once the wall light is mounted on the wall, accessing the switch may be difficult. It is advisable to decide on the desired temperature, adjust the switch, and then proceed with mounting.

Does the aluminum body require any additional treatment to withstand exposure to sun and rain?

Aluminum with a matte white finish does not require additional treatments. It is a material that withstands prolonged exposure well without rusting or deteriorating easily. Simply cleaning it occasionally with a damp cloth is sufficient to maintain the finish.

Is the included LED lamp replaceable if it breaks?

The SMD LED light source is integrated into the unit. This type of assembly is not intended for the end user to replace on their own. If the LED stops working within the warranty period, the appropriate course of action is to contact customer service.
