Overview

DORO is a wall light for outdoor use, manufactured by the Spanish brand FARO. It is designed to be installed on facades, entrances and outdoor areas where functional and durable lighting is needed. The lamp projects light on both sides, allowing it to illuminate both the wall surface and the space in front of it.

The body of the wall light is made of aluminium with an oxide brown finish, a tone that integrates well with materials such as stone, aged wood or exposed brick. The diffuser is made of prismatic glass, which distributes light evenly without creating excessive glare spots. With IP65 protection, this lamp withstands rain and dust ingress, making it work reliably under typical outdoor conditions.

FARO is a company with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products combine solid technical criteria with a design that fits different types of environments, from homes with gardens to buildings with a more classic facade character.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This wall light is fixed directly onto the wall using anchors at the base of the body. Before installing, check that the surface is solid and level. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Make sure to cut the power before handling any wiring. The working voltage is 220V-240V, compatible with the standard electrical network in Spain and Europe.

Use and maintenance. Clean the body of the wall light with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the oxide brown finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with water and neutral soap, rinsing well afterwards. Although the lamp has IP65 protection, avoid directing jets of water directly onto the joints or the fixing base during cleaning.

Design and use

The DORO wall light has a compact profile and an elongated silhouette that adapts to different types of walls without taking up too much space. With just 48 mm in height and 220 mm in length, it is a discreet lamp that does not visually dominate the facade, but fulfils its lighting function well.

The aluminium body gives it durability without adding excessive weight. The oxide brown finish is not a simple colour applied to the surface, but a tone with a certain depth that is reminiscent of aged metal. This gives the wall light a character of its own, which works especially well in environments with natural materials: stone, wood, exposed concrete or brick. It also fits on more neutral facades where you want to add a touch of visual warmth without resorting to eye-catching decorative elements.

The prismatic glass diffuser has a clear practical function: it distributes light in both directions, upwards and downwards along the wall, without concentrating it at a single point. This creates a more enveloping lighting effect than a conventional spotlight. The colour temperature of 3000K corresponds to a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. This tone is suitable for areas where a welcoming atmosphere is desired, such as the entrance of a home, a garden or a terrace where time is spent outdoors.

The SMD LED light source is already included, so there is no need to purchase anything additional to start using it. The total power of 13W is sufficient to correctly illuminate an entrance or a section of exterior wall. It is not a high-intensity spotlight intended to illuminate very large surfaces, but a lamp oriented towards specific areas where ambient light and spatial signage are priorities.

The IP65 protection rating guarantees that the wall light withstands water projected from any direction, as well as the ingress of dust and solid particles. This makes it suitable for outdoor installation without the need for additional covers. It can be placed on an exposed facade, under a porch, next to an entrance door, on the wall delimiting a garden or on a terrace.

Although the DORO wall light does not include a motion sensor or presence detector, it can be combined with an external sensor installed in the electrical circuit to automate switching on by motion. This option is common in entrances and access points where the lamp does not need to be on continuously. In that case, the sensor is installed independently and controls the operation of the lamp externally.

For those looking for visual consistency on the exterior of their home, the oxide brown finish of this lamp combines well with dark joinery, wrought iron grilles or earth-toned decorative elements. It can also accompany other luminaires from the same range if you want to repeat the same aesthetic approach along the facade or at different points in the garden.

Questions and answers

Does the DORO lamp include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is included. The wall light comes ready to install and connect, with no need to purchase any additional lighting components.

Does the DORO wall light emit light on only one side of the wall or in both directions?

Light is projected on both sides of the diffuser, both upwards and downwards along the wall. This allows the surroundings to be illuminated in a more balanced way than a wall light with unidirectional emission.

What level of protection does IP65 offer against typical weather conditions?

IP65 guarantees complete protection against dust and resistance to water projected from any direction. This makes it suitable for installation outdoors exposed to rain, such as facades, garden walls or uncovered terrace areas.
