Overview

This outdoor wall light from the FARO brand is designed to illuminate entrances, gardens and terraces with warm, downward-directed light. The beam of light at the bottom creates a clean decorative effect, without direct glare, that defines spaces at dusk without the need to install multiple light points.

The body is made of die-cast aluminium with a dark grey finish, a material that withstands outdoor conditions well. The diffuser is made of transparent tempered glass, which allows light to pass through without distortion. The unit is compact and weighs just 260 grams, so it does not require complex wall anchoring.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in designing indoor and outdoor luminaires. Its products combine contemporary aesthetics with technical criteria designed for real domestic use.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This wall light is fixed directly to the wall using the included anchor points. Before installing the lamp, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. The LED light source is already included, so it does not need to be purchased separately. The supported voltage ranges from 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is recommended to seek the help of an electrician.

Use and maintenance. The aluminium surface can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The tempered glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or damp cloth. Do not handle the wall light while the installation is connected to the mains. For greater durability, periodically check that the wall fixing points are secure.

Design and use

The FARO wall light stands out for its compact format and discreet profile. With just 85 mm in height and 40 mm in depth, this fixture hugs the wall without protruding too far outward, which is an advantage in areas with frequent foot traffic, such as entrances or garden pathways.

The lamp uses SMD LED technology with a colour temperature of 3000K, which corresponds to warm white light. This type of lighting is pleasant for everyday outdoor spaces, as it is neither cold nor harsh. As the light falls downward, it creates an illuminated area on the ground or on the lower part of the façade, helping to guide movement without visually overwhelming the surroundings.

The die-cast aluminium body with a dark grey finish pairs well with concrete, stone or modern rendered façades. It also integrates effortlessly alongside aluminium or steel joinery, materials commonly found in contemporary buildings. In gardens with vegetation, the dark tone of the wall light contrasts naturally with the greens, without visually competing with the surroundings.

The tempered glass diffuser provides durability against temperature changes and the minor impacts that can occur outdoors. Unlike plastic diffusers, glass does not yellow over time, so the fixture maintains its appearance in good condition for longer.

This wall light can be placed on both sides of an entrance door to create symmetry, or in series along a perimeter wall to define the garden or patio. It also works well on covered terraces, where the durability of aluminium and glass offers sufficient protection against humidity and splashing.

Although the product does not include a motion sensor, it can easily be integrated into an installation with an external detector if automated switching is desired. This is common in access areas where lighting is only needed when someone is present. The connection to the motion detector is made in the circuit, not in the wall light itself.

For those looking to combine this wall light with other garden luminaires, the dark grey finish and contemporary style make it easy to mix with other models from the same line or with lanterns of a similar design. The result is a cohesive outdoor lighting scheme, where no single piece stands out excessively over the others.

The low consumption of 4W makes it a sensible option for installations with multiple light points on a terrace or in a garden, where cumulative energy use can be relevant. The light source is included and does not require immediate replacement, as LED technology has a long lifespan under normal conditions of use.

Questions and answers

Does the tempered glass diffuser withstand accidental knocks or impacts outdoors?

Tempered glass is more resistant than conventional glass against minor impacts. However, like any glass, it can break under strong or direct blows. It is recommended to install it in areas where it is not exposed to frequent impacts.

Can the included LED lamp be replaced if it fails?

The SMD LED light source is integrated into the lamp. This type of LED has a long lifespan under normal outdoor conditions of use. If it were to fail, consult a qualified technician before attempting to replace it.

Is this wall light compatible with an external motion sensor system?

Yes. Although the wall light does not have a built-in sensor, it can be connected to an external motion detector installed in the circuit. Integration with the sensor does not require modifying the wall light, only the prior electrical installation.
