Overview

The FARO STRIPE-2 is a recessed wall light designed for outdoor use. It is installed flush with the wall surface and provides a downward-directed light, clean and without elements that protrude too much. It is a practical solution for those who want to illuminate the façade, entrance or garden without adding visual volume to the wall.

The body is made of aluminium in dark grey, with an opal diffuser. The combination results in a soft light, free from direct glare. The light includes integrated SMD LED technology and operates between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with standard installations without the need for adapters.

It has IP54 protection, meaning it is resistant to rain and suspended dust particles. It is suitable for outdoor installation under normal weather conditions. The weight is 0.57 kg, which makes it easy to handle during assembly.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its products combine functionality and careful design, and are present in both residential projects and more demanding spaces.

Installation and specifications

Before installation, make sure the wall recessed box has the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the depth of 84 mm. It is essential to cut the power supply before starting the installation. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially as this is an outdoor light exposed to weather conditions. Verify that the existing wiring is compatible with the voltage of 100V–240V before connecting the light.

For maintenance, clean the surface of the aluminium body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. Do not disassemble the PC diffuser to clean the interior unless strictly necessary. Periodically check that the edges of the installation are properly sealed to preserve the IP54 protection.

Design and use

The STRIPE-2 is a recessed wall light designed for outdoor use. Its elongated format, with 233 mm in length and barely 100 mm in height, gives it a discreet proportion that adapts well to walls with different finishes, from smooth render to stone or treated wood cladding.

The aluminium body provides durability without adding unnecessary weight. Aluminium handles temperature variations, outdoor ambient humidity and contact with rainwater well, which in this case is covered by the appliance's IP54 rating. The opal polycarbonate diffuser distributes light outward evenly, avoiding points of excessive brightness. The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, closer to soft white than cool white, which gives the exterior a welcoming appearance as night falls.

The dark grey finish is one of the light's strong points. It is a neutral colour that does not compete with the surroundings, but does not go unnoticed either. It combines well with light-toned façades, where it contrasts elegantly, and also fits with darker finishes or natural stone. In garden settings with abundant vegetation, the dark grey of the wall or fence acts as a background that integrates the light naturally.

This type of luminaire is particularly useful at the entrance of a home. Placed at the right height, a wall-flush light provides directed light without creating annoying shadows. It also works well on the sides of a terrace or patio, where wall lighting allows comfortable movement without the need to install an overhead spotlight. Along a garden perimeter wall, several lights of this model distributed regularly generate continuous and orderly illumination.

The integrated SMD LED source consumes only 5W, making it an efficient option for leaving on several hours each night. Unlike a conventional replacement lamp, the integrated LED has a longer lifespan and does not require frequent replacements. The light operates with voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and in most countries.

For those looking for an outdoor light that does not draw too much attention during the day but performs well at night, the STRIPE-2 is a well-considered choice. It is not a high-power spotlight or a decorative fill light: it is a balanced wall light, with solid materials and a finish that ages well outdoors.

Questions and answers

Can the STRIPE-2 light be installed in areas directly exposed to rain?

Yes. The light has IP54 protection, making it resistant to rain and water splashes from any direction. It is not designed to be submerged, but it withstands exposure to normal outdoor weather conditions without any issues.

Is it necessary to purchase the light source separately for the STRIPE-2?

No. The light includes the integrated 5W SMD LED light source. No additional components need to be purchased for it to work once installed.

What type of wall cavity does the installation of this recessed light require?

As this is a recessed wall light, it is necessary to prepare a cavity in the wall that can accommodate the 84 mm depth of the light. The external dimensions are 233 mm in length by 100 mm in height, and these must be taken into account when planning the cutout or recessed box.
