Overview

This outdoor recessed wall light from the brand FARO is designed for those looking for a discreet and functional lighting solution on a wall. It takes up no space, does not hang, and does not distract. It integrates into the surface and fulfills its purpose without drawing too much attention.

It is a signage light: its main purpose is to mark a path, an entrance, steps, or an outdoor access point. It works well in situations where light needs to guide without glaring. The transparent glass diffuser distributes light softly, and the 2700K color temperature provides a warm tone that is pleasant in outdoor spaces at dusk.

The body is made of polycarbonate in a matte white finish. It is a lightweight and durable material, suitable for installation on outdoor walls. The 5W LED light source is included, so there is no need to purchase anything additional except the recessed box, which is sold separately (ref. 70274, 70275 and 70276).

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine functional design with materials suited for different environments, both indoor and outdoor.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed wall light, it is essential to have the corresponding recessed box, available under references 70274, 70275 and 70276. Before starting, make sure the wall is thick enough and that the recess is properly leveled. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified professional. Always disconnect the power before handling the wiring.

For maintenance, clean the polycarbonate body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the matte white finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not handle the light while it is on.

Design and use

This outdoor recessed wall light is designed to be installed directly into the wall, flush with the surface. Its slim profile, with only 36 mm of depth, means it barely protrudes from the wall. This makes it a suitable option for spaces where discretion matters: entrances, access points, outdoor corridors, garden steps, or facades where a bulky luminaire is not desired.

The body is made of matte white polycarbonate. This material handles temperature changes and continuous outdoor use well. Its weight of 0.3 kg makes it very manageable during wall installation. The dimensions of 190 x 80 mm offer a balanced visual presence: enough to be visible, but without dominating the wall surface.

The diffuser is made of transparent glass. Unlike opaline diffusers, this one allows the light source to be seen directly, giving a more defined point of light. For outdoor signage, this effect can be an advantage: the beam is clear and easy to identify from a certain distance. The warm 2700K light adds a sense of comfort in the nighttime atmosphere of a garden or entrance.

The integrated 5W SMD LED light source does not require frequent replacement. Being LED, energy consumption is low and the lifespan is considerably longer than with traditional light sources. The working voltage is the standard European domestic range, between 220V and 240V.

This recessed spotlight can be combined well with other lights from the same series, creating a signage line along a path or an outdoor staircase. It also works on its own as a spotlight that marks an access point or a reference point on the facade. In a garden, it can be integrated into a stone wall or a fence, where its matte white finish contrasts cleanly with rough or dark-colored surfaces.

The versatility of this wall light lies in its simplicity. It has no built-in motion sensor or programmable functions: it simply illuminates the point where it is installed. This makes it ideal for those looking for a stable, uncomplicated solution that works whenever needed. If the project requires incorporating a motion sensor into the circuit, this can be done externally, although that component is not included with this light.

The matte white version is the one described here, but the model is also available in a black version for those who prefer a darker finish or want the light to stand out less against light-colored surfaces.

Questions and answers

Is it necessary to purchase a recessed box separately to install this light?

Yes, this recessed light requires a specific recessed box that is not included. The compatible references are 70274, 70275 and 70276. Before placing your order, check which one best suits the type of wall where you will be installing the light.

What type of light does this wall light emit and what feeling does it create in an outdoor space?

The light source is a 5W SMD LED with a color temperature of 2700K. This corresponds to a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. Outdoors, that tone is pleasant and not harsh on the nighttime atmosphere of a garden or entrance.

Does the transparent glass diffuser affect how light is distributed on the wall?

Yes. Being transparent rather than opaline, the diffuser allows light to come out in a more concentrated and direct manner. This gives a visible and defined point of light, which is especially useful for outdoor signage, where it is important for the spotlight to be easily identifiable from a certain distance.
