Overview

The FARO outdoor recessed floor luminaire is a light fixture designed to be integrated directly into the paving of gardens, terraces, patios and facades. Its asymmetric light beam allows illumination to be directed where it is truly needed: along a path, over a step, or outlining a walkway. The result is a clean, well-defined visual route, without the light source drawing too much attention to itself.

What sets this recessed spotlight apart is the combination of materials designed for outdoor use: 316L stainless steel body with aluminium, transparent glass diffuser and satin stainless finish. It does not rust, does not lose its finish and withstands continuous outdoor use without issue. The driver and recessed box are included, so there is no need to source additional components for installation.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in professional and residential lighting. Its outdoor products are designed to last and to integrate well into projects of different styles, from more natural gardens to architectural spaces with clean lines.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This spotlight is recessed directly into the ground, so it is necessary to prepare a prior recess in the paving or surface to be worked on. The included recessed box serves as a watertight housing for the luminaire. The driver is also included in the package. The electrical connection must always be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in outdoor installations where humidity is a relevant factor. Check that the wiring reaches the installation point before closing the paving.

Use and maintenance. The diffuser glass can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the surface. 316L stainless steel requires minimal maintenance, although in areas with a marine environment or high salt concentration it is recommended to clean the body more frequently to preserve the finish. Do not handle the luminaire with the installation connected to the electrical mains.

Design and use

A recessed floor spotlight solves something that other outdoor solutions do not achieve in the same way: it disappears into the paving and lets the light take centre stage. No visible cables, no protruding structures, nothing to interrupt the line of the floor. Just a beam of light emerging from the ground that defines the space around it.

This FARO recessed fixture has asymmetric distribution, meaning the light is not projected equally in all directions. It concentrates to one side, which is particularly useful for illuminating kerbs, marking walkways in a garden or highlighting a vertical element such as a wall or facade. On a terrace, this type of spotlight can mark the perimeter or follow the line of a staircase with continuous, even light.

The body combines 316L stainless steel and aluminium. 316L steel is the same used in industrial and marine applications for its corrosion resistance, even with prolonged contact with water or salt. For an outdoor luminaire recessed into the ground, where contact with moisture is inevitable, this choice of material is no minor detail. The transparent glass diffuser contributes to cleaner light transmission and does not alter the warm tone of the COB LED's 3000K.

With 900 lumens and 9W, the luminous performance is adequate for creating pathways in gardens or patios without generating glare. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm light that integrates well into natural environments, and the CRI above 80 ensures that the colours of the surroundings are perceived naturally, without distortion.

The IP67 protection rating guarantees that the luminaire can be temporarily submerged in water without damage, making it a safe option for areas exposed to heavy rain or water accumulation. The IK08 rating indicates that the unit withstands moderate impacts, which is relevant on walkable surfaces. In addition, this recessed fixture supports rolling loads of up to 2000 kg, so it can be installed in entrances where light vehicles or garden machinery circulate.

The satin stainless finish is discreet and integrates well into both natural stone paving and wooden decking, concrete or porcelain surfaces. It does not stand out during the day, and at night it provides illumination without visually overloading the space. It is a solution that works equally well in a domestic garden, at the exterior entrance of a building or on the floor of a communal terrace.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed floor spotlight withstand the passage of vehicles or garden machinery?

Yes. The recessed fixture is designed to support a rolling load of up to 2000 kg, allowing it to be installed in entrances used by light vehicles or gardening equipment without risk of damaging the luminaire.

What level of protection does it offer against rain and moisture?

It has an IP67 rating, which protects against dust ingress and temporary immersion in water. This is adequate protection for outdoor areas exposed to rain, even in intense conditions.

Are the driver and recessed box included in the package, or do they need to be purchased separately?

Both components are included. The recessed box and the driver are part of the standard product package, so there is no need to source or purchase them separately.
