Overview

The GRUND BAÑADOR by FARO is a recessed outdoor spotlight designed to be installed in the ground. Its main function is to project light upward, against a wall, a façade, or a stone or wood surface, to highlight textures and volumes in a natural way. The result is lighting that draws no attention to itself, but rather to what it illuminates.

The anodized black finish of the aluminum body makes the spotlight nearly invisible during the day. At night, the warm 2700K light creates that wall-washing effect that transforms any outdoor corner into a pleasant space. It is ideal for gardens, patios, entrances, and terraces where discreet yet well-resolved lighting is desired.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in indoor and outdoor luminaires. Their products are designed for those who seek functionality without sacrificing aesthetic judgment.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This recessed spotlight is installed in the ground, so it requires preparing a suitable recess before mounting. It is essential to have an installation that operates at 24V DC, as the unit is not compatible with other voltages. It is recommended to carry out the installation with a qualified electrician, especially to ensure proper sealing of the connections in an outdoor environment. The wiring must be protected and kept away from areas of heavy foot traffic or direct moisture.

Use and maintenance. The aluminum surface with anodized black finish can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. Periodically check the condition of the spotlight and the connections, especially after periods of heavy rain or frost. The LED module is included and does not require frequent replacement under normal conditions of use.

Design and use

The GRUND BAÑADOR is a small-format recessed outdoor spotlight with a very specific presence in the final result of any lighting project. Installed in the ground, it directs light toward a vertical surface: a stone wall, a brick façade, a wooden panel, a trimmed hedge. What it does is turn that surface into the visual focal point of the space, without the need to add any other element.

The body is made of aluminum, a material that combines lightness and resistance for outdoor use. The anodized black finish is not only aesthetic: it protects the metal against oxidation and wear caused by continuous outdoor exposure. Visually, the black makes the recessed fixture disappear into the ground during the day, whether set in soil, gravel, cobblestone, or wooden flooring.

The diffuser is made of transparent glass, allowing light to emerge in a direct and precise manner. The 2700K color temperature produces a warm light that enhances natural materials: stone, wood, exposed concrete, vegetation. It is the type of lighting that makes a garden or patio feel more welcoming at nightfall, without the effect appearing artificial.

With 7W of power and LED technology, energy consumption is low. The module is included, so nothing additional needs to be purchased to get started, provided a 24V DC installation is already available.

The dimensions are compact: 92mm in diameter and 81mm in length. This allows it to be integrated into narrow curbs, garden steps, access paths, or the perimeter of a terrace without taking up too much space or interfering with foot traffic. On an exterior façade, aligned with other spotlights of the same type, it generates a line of light that defines the volume of the building with great clarity.

In an interior courtyard, it can be used to wash a feature wall or highlight a built-in planter. In a garden, it serves to accompany the route of a path or to reveal the texture of a masonry wall. On a terrace, it provides low-level ambient light that does not glare but defines the space clearly.

The spotlight works well both in new installations and in renovations where 24V DC conduit already exists. Its weight of less than half a kilogram makes handling during installation easy.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed spotlight work with any standard domestic 220V electrical installation?

No. The GRUND BAÑADOR is designed to operate exclusively at 24V DC. To install it, a transformer or power supply that converts the mains voltage to 24V DC is required. This is an essential requirement before installation.

Is the LED module included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The LED module is included with the product. No additional light source needs to be purchased for it to function.

Can this spotlight be installed on an outdoor wooden floor surface or only on hard floors?

The spotlight is designed for floor installation in general. For wooden surfaces, it is advisable to ensure that the mounting recess is properly sealed and that the wood has adequate treatment for outdoor use, as the spotlight itself does not act as a sealant for the surrounding area.
