Overview

A well-chosen recessed floor light completely changes the way an outdoor space is perceived after dark. This 13W LED spotlight from the brand FARO is designed to be installed in gardens, terraces, patios and outdoor access areas where a path needs to be marked or transit zones defined clearly. The light it projects upward creates a clean, orderly effect on pavements, curbs or landscaped areas.

What sets this recessed fixture apart is its ability to withstand use in demanding conditions. It supports vehicle traffic of up to 1000 kg, making it suitable for areas with not only pedestrian circulation. Its body combines 316L stainless steel and aluminum, materials that do not deteriorate over time outdoors. The transparent glass diffuser lets light through without filters that would reduce its effect.

FARO is a Spanish company with years of experience in facade, outdoor and indoor lighting. Its products are found in residential projects and everyday-use spaces, with a clear balance between functionality and durability.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed floor light, a cavity must be excavated in the floor with the appropriate dimensions to house the recessed box. Before placing the fixture, ensure that the electrical wiring is properly protected and that the bottom of the cavity has a firm base. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified installer. The body sits flush with the floor surface once installed, so no element protrudes.

The satin stainless finish does not require abrasive products for cleaning. A damp cloth is sufficient to remove accumulated dust or dirt. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a mild cleaning product. Avoid the use of solvents or corrosive products. Although the IP67 protection guarantees watertightness, it is not recommended to direct pressurized water jets directly onto the luminaire during cleaning.

Design and use

This recessed floor spotlight combines high-resistance materials with a discreet design that does not alter the appearance of the pavement or garden during the day. The body made of 316L stainless steel, known for its resistance to corrosion in humid environments or those with salt presence, is complemented by aluminum components that reduce the overall weight without sacrificing robustness. The assembly weighs less than 700 grams, which facilitates handling during installation.

The 3000K COB LED light source emits a warm tone that looks natural on stone, treated wood, concrete and outdoor paving surfaces. This type of lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere in a patio without generating a harsh contrast with the dark surroundings. Warm light is especially suitable for rest areas or gardens with vegetation, where a cooler color temperature could be excessive.

The IP67 protection index means the lamp is completely protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter deep for a limited time. This makes it a valid option for installations near fountains, ponds or in areas where water can accumulate after heavy rain. The IK08 resistance indicates that the diffuser and body can withstand mechanical impacts of a certain intensity, which is relevant in areas of frequent transit.

The ability to support up to 1000 kg of wheel load extends the locations where this recessed fixture can be installed. It is not limited to pedestrian paths or private terraces. It can be placed in vehicle access areas, garage entrances or paved areas of mixed use. This feature differentiates it from other floor spotlights designed only for pedestrian zones.

Regarding its integration into the surroundings, the satin stainless finish allows the spotlight to blend visually into pavements of different tones and materials. It does not draw excessive attention, which is useful when the aim is for the lighting to be functional without becoming the central element of the design. Several spotlights installed in a line along an access or facade create a uniform luminous path that guides without dazzling.

This recessed fixture is equally useful on outdoor staircases, where discreet floor lighting improves safety without the need to install spotlights on walls. It also works well on raised terraces or along the edges of a garden to mark where the transit area ends and the landscaped zone begins.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed fixture be installed at a vehicle entrance or only in pedestrian areas?

This floor spotlight supports a wheel load of up to 1000 kg, so it can be installed in areas with light vehicle traffic, such as private vehicle access areas or garage entrances, as well as on pedestrian paths and terraces.

Does the IP67 rating guarantee that it works correctly if water accumulates on it after rain?

Yes. The IP67 classification indicates that the luminaire is completely sealed against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter deep. Surface water accumulation after rain does not pose any problem for its operation.

Does the 316L stainless steel body require any special treatment to withstand outdoor conditions?

No. 316L stainless steel has a natural resistance to corrosion, especially in humid environments. It does not need paint or additional treatments to remain in good condition outdoors over time.
