Overview

MOON is an outdoor lamp designed to be mounted directly on the wall. Its aluminum body and opal PMMA diffuser make it suitable for open-air spaces, where material durability matters as much as the visual result. This version measures 30 cm in height and has a dark grey finish that effortlessly integrates into contemporary facades.

It is a lamp that works well at a home entrance, on a terrace, next to a garage door, or in any patio where directed and stable light is needed. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly, without excessive bright spots. It does not glare, it does not create harsh shadows — it simply illuminates.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine functional design with quality materials, designed for both domestic use and larger projects.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is recommended to fix the lamp on a flat and solid surface, using anchors appropriate for the wall type. Since this is an outdoor luminaire, it is important to properly seal the cable entry points to prevent moisture ingress. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified professional. The lamp accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. It does not include a bulb — an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15 W is required.

The aluminum surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish should be avoided. The PMMA diffuser is cleaned in the same way — without scrubbing hard to avoid scratching it. It is recommended to periodically check the condition of the screws and the exterior sealing, especially in areas with frequent rainfall or sudden temperature changes.

Design and use

The MOON lamp by FARO is designed for those who want to light the outdoors without sacrificing a refined finish. It is not a decorative lantern with ornaments, nor an industrial luminaire without character. It is a lamp with clean lines, balanced proportions, and materials that stand the test of time.

The body is made of aluminum, a material that combines lightness with solidity. It does not rust like iron, it does not warp with heat like some plastics. The dark grey finish is discreet and neutral — it does not compete with the facade, it simply integrates. It works well on light-colored walls, but also on natural stone, exposed brick, or darker claddings.

The opal PMMA diffuser is the element that defines the quality of the light. Unlike transparent diffusers, opal filters and distributes light homogeneously. This means that by the front door, in the patio, or on the terrace, the lighting appears as a zone of soft light, without directly seeing the bulb or suffering from annoying glare. For spaces where people move around and spend time — such as a frequently used patio or a summer terrace — this type of light is much more comfortable than a direct source.

The 30 cm version offers sufficient visual presence without being excessive. It is a lamp that stands out, fulfills its aesthetic function, but does not dominate the facade. It can be combined with other floor lights such as bollards to create layered lighting: the bollards mark the path or perimeter, and the wall lamp provides the main light at eye level.

In a garden with an access path, for example, it makes sense to place bollards along the route and reserve this lamp for the entry point or main door. On a terrace, it can be installed alongside other ambient lights to achieve a more complete result. It does not need accompaniment, but it lends itself well to combinations.

The E27 socket is the most common on the market. Finding a compatible LED bulb is not a problem — any lighting or DIY store has options available. The maximum power of 15 W is sufficient to illuminate an access space or a passageway. It is not a lamp designed to illuminate a large surface on its own, but for its function as an outdoor wall lantern, it performs well.

The weight of 1.67 kg makes installation straightforward and does not require special fixings on most walls. Even so, it is always advisable to ensure that the anchors are appropriate for the substrate, especially on plasterboard or lightweight material walls.

Questions and answers

Does this lamp need a specific bulb or will any E27 work?

Any E27 socket bulb with a maximum power of 15 W will work. It is recommended to use an LED bulb to make the most of energy efficiency. The lamp does not include a bulb, so it must be purchased separately.

Does the dark grey finish hold up well to continuous exposure to sun and rain?

The body is made of aluminum, a material that does not rust and tolerates temperature changes and humidity well. The finish may show wear over time if not cleaned periodically, but under normal outdoor conditions it maintains its appearance well.

Is it possible to install this lamp on a brick or stone wall?

Yes. As it uses a standard wall-mounted fixing, it can be installed on various types of surfaces, including brick or stone walls. In these cases, it is recommended to use plugs and screws appropriate for the material and to ensure that the wiring is properly sealed at the entry point.
