Overview

The BAST beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate walkways in the garden, patio, or terrace. It mounts directly to the wall and projects light downward, marking paths or access points without the need to install a separate post. The body is made of aluminum and the diffuser of transparent polycarbonate, giving it a clean and contemporary look.

The lamp includes an integrated LED light source, so there is no need to purchase anything additional. With 25 W and a color temperature of 3000 K, it provides a warm light that is not harsh at night. The black finish of the body integrates well with both modern facades and stone or brick walls.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in residential and architectural lighting. Their outdoor products are designed to last and to fit different types of homes, from country houses to apartments with outdoor areas.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lamp is mounted on a wall using a surface-mount fixing. Before installing it, make sure the wall can support the weight of the lantern, which is nearly 5.5 kg. It is recommended to use anchors and screws appropriate for the type of surface. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Check that the circuit it is connected to is protected and complies with local regulations for outdoor installations.

Use and maintenance. Clean the aluminum body with a damp cloth and, if necessary, with a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the black finish. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time; simply clean it with a soft cloth. Do not handle the lamp while the installation is connected to the electrical supply.

Design and use

The BAST beacon is a wall lantern designed for residential outdoor use. Its elongated format, with a height of 960 mm and a square section of 160 mm, gives it presence without being bulky. It takes up no floor space, which is an advantage when the walkway is narrow or when you want to keep the area clear. Unlike a garden post anchored to the ground, this lamp integrates into the wall structure itself.

The aluminum body is lightweight and durable, making it suitable for permanent outdoor installations. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the interior of the lantern to be seen and lets light be distributed clearly toward the desired area. The combination of black aluminum and transparent polycarbonate creates a clean contrast that fits contemporary settings, although it also works well alongside more traditional elements such as masonry walls or iron fences.

The integrated SMD LED light source emits at 3000 K, a warm temperature reminiscent of incandescent light. This is important in nighttime outdoor settings, where overly cool light can feel harsh or unwelcoming. The LED is included with the lamp, so there is no need to search for compatible bulbs or make additional adjustments after installation. With a maximum power of 25 W, it is sufficient to illuminate walkways without generating excessive brightness that might disturb neighbors or alter the garden atmosphere.

This beacon is a good option for marking the route from the entrance to the front door, or for defining the boundaries of a terrace. It can also be installed in inner courtyards, in passageways between buildings, or on facades where nighttime visual signage is needed without resorting to ground lights or pedestal beacons. In gardens with vegetation, the black body tends to visually disappear during the day, while at night the warm LED light acts as a reference point in the space.

If several lanterns are installed along a path, the regularity of their shapes and the uniformity of the light create a coherent visual route. It is not necessary to combine them with a motion sensor or automatic systems, although the lamp is compatible with standard timers or dusk-to-dawn switches if you want to automate switching. Installation on a circuit with an outdoor sensor is also possible, as long as it is managed by the electrical installer.

The BAST design is not intended as a prominent decorative element, but as a functional part of the outdoor environment. Its proportions and finish allow it to blend in without drawing too much attention during the day, and to do its job well when night falls. For those renovating the lighting in their garden or patio, it is a practical option that requires no groundwork or complex installations.

Questions and answers

Does the BAST beacon include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the integrated SMD LED light source. It is not necessary to purchase any additional bulb before installing it.

What type of fixing does this lamp use and on what surfaces can it be installed?

The lantern is fixed using a wall-mount system, directly onto the wall. It is compatible with concrete, brick, or stone walls, provided that the appropriate anchors and screws are used for the type of surface and that the wall can support the weight of the post, which is around 5.5 kg.

Is the color temperature of 3000 K suitable for illuminating a garden or patio at night?

Yes. 3000 K corresponds to a warm white light, similar to incandescent light. In nighttime outdoor settings, this range is common because it creates a pleasant atmosphere without being harsh or cold.
