Overview

TOBA is an outdoor pendant lamp designed for ceiling installation, intended for those who want to shape open-air spaces with purpose and without complications. It works well on a porch, on a covered terrace, or in an enclosed patio where focused, characterful lighting is needed.

What sets this lamp apart is its built-in coupling system: it allows several TOBA units to be joined together to create custom compositions. A single piece can be hung, or a grouping can be built according to the space and each person's needs. This gives it a flexibility that is not common in an outdoor pendant luminaire.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting, known for combining materials designed for outdoor use with a design that fits well in residential settings. Its products reach many countries and are present in both domestic and hospitality projects.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an anchor point on the ceiling capable of supporting the weight of the lamp is required. Since this is an outdoor luminaire, the wiring must be protected and suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if several units are to be hung in a composition. Before connecting, verify that the mains voltage corresponds to the range indicated in the specifications.

The silicone housing can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents, as these could alter the finish. The PEMD opal diffuser requires no special maintenance, but it is worth checking it from time to time to remove accumulated dust or dirt. Always disconnect the power before handling the lamp.

Design and use

The TOBA lamp by FARO has a body made of brown silicone. This material is flexible, resistant to temperature variations, and holds up well against outdoor conditions without the finish deteriorating over time. The brown tone gives it a warm look that integrates effortlessly into natural settings: gardens with vegetation, wooden porches, terraces with organic materials, or Mediterranean-style patios.

The diffuser is made of PEMD with an opal finish. It distributes light evenly without creating bright spots or areas with pronounced shadows. It is a type of lighting that is easy on the eyes and creates a calm atmosphere, suitable both for outdoor dinners and for summer evenings in the garden or on the porch.

One of the most practical aspects of this pendant lamp is the coupling accessory it includes. It allows several TOBA pieces to be connected together to form custom compositions. A single unit can be installed in a small space, such as a balcony or a covered gallery, or several can be grouped together to illuminate a larger area, such as a pergola or a bigger terrace. This ability to scale the installation means the system adapts to very different situations without needing to change the product.

In a patio with low ceilings, a single hanging TOBA works well as a main light source. On a larger terrace, two or three grouped units create a more elaborate visual presence and cover the space better. The compact silhouette of the lamp, at 180 mm in diameter and 241 mm in height, means it does not look out of proportion in domestic spaces of normal scale.

The use of an E27 LED socket makes the lamp compatible with a wide variety of bulbs available on the market. No bulb is included, so each person can choose the color temperature that best suits the atmosphere they want to create: a warmer light for an intimate corner, or a neutral light for areas where cooking or working outdoors also takes place.

The brown finish with opal diffuser gives this luminaire a character that could be described as rustic without being old-fashioned. It is not a lamp that draws excessive attention, but rather integrates into the surroundings and contributes to the overall look. It works well alongside dark wood, natural stone, wrought iron, or textured materials that are common in well-kept terraces and gardens.

For those updating the exterior of their home, pendant lights of this type are a solution that goes beyond the purely functional. They shape the space, define zones, and make the exterior livable at night as well. With TOBA's modular system, you can start with one piece and expand later without having to rethink the entire installation.

Questions and answers

Is the coupling accessory for connecting several TOBA lamps included in the box?

Yes, the accessory that allows different TOBA units to be joined together comes included with the lamp. It does not need to be purchased separately.

Does the brown silicone body retain its color over time when used outdoors?

Silicone is a material that tolerates exposure to temperature changes and typical outdoor conditions well. With basic maintenance, the brown finish retains its appearance without significant changes.

Does this pendant lamp accept any E27 bulb, or are there power restrictions?

It accepts bulbs with an E27 socket up to a maximum of 12 W. It is recommended to use LED bulbs compatible with that socket to make good use of the lamp's voltage range.
