Overview

The NARA pendant lamp by FARO is a luminaire designed for outdoor spaces. It is ceiling-mounted and works well in covered entrances, terraces, porches, or any outdoor area where direct and long-lasting lighting is needed. Its IP65 rating means it resists both water and dust, so there is no need to worry about rain or the passage of time.

The rust brown color gives it a character of its own. It is not a piece that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with its surroundings either. It fits in environments with natural materials, in gardens with dense vegetation, or on stone and wood facades. It also works in more modern spaces where a warm contrast is desired.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. It designs products for real use, with attention to finish and durability. The NARA lamp is a good example of that approach: built to be outdoors, without neglecting aesthetics.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an existing ceiling light point is required. As this is an outdoor pendant lamp with an IP65 rating, the anchor point must be protected from direct moisture. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in areas exposed to rain or condensation. Before connecting, verify that the mains voltage is compatible with the indicated range.

To clean the lamp, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid using abrasive products or solvents that could damage the rust brown steel finish. Do not submerge in water or direct jets directly onto the piece, even though it has IP65 protection. Periodically check the condition of the cable and fixing points, especially if the area is exposed to adverse weather conditions.

Design and use

The NARA lamp is made with a steel body in a rust brown finish and a PEMD diffuser in an opal tone. The steel provides solidity and resistance against the elements, while the opal diffuser distributes light smoothly, without excessive bright spots. The result is a pleasant illumination that does not glare and integrates well into the outdoor nighttime environment.

With a diameter of 460 mm and a height of 354 mm, it has a notable presence without being disproportionate. It is a pendant lamp that occupies its space naturally. It weighs 1.67 kg, so the ceiling anchor point must be firmly fixed to support it without tension.

In an entrance porch, this pendant lamp serves a clear purpose: marking the access point with a warm and constant light. On a covered terrace, it can be the central lighting point around which the rest of the space is organized. It also works well in an interior courtyard with a partial roof, where outdoor lights must coexist with some exposure to moisture.

In a garden with a pergola, placing it over the gathering area creates an intimate atmosphere without needing to install multiple spotlights. A single well-chosen luminaire can define a space more effectively than several scattered light sources. The opal tone of the diffuser helps in that regard: the light spreads rather than concentrating.

The rust brown finish connects with materials such as aged wood, wrought iron, exposed brick, or natural stone. On a balcony with a wooden floor or in a glazed gallery overlooking the garden, this tone provides visual continuity. It also contrasts well with white or grey surfaces, where the body color becomes a decorative element in itself.

For those seeking a more rustic style, NARA fits effortlessly. The color and shape evoke an old aesthetic, almost like a traditional lantern, but with the performance of a modern lamp. For those who prefer cleaner lines, the metallic finish and clean geometry allow it to integrate equally well.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows the color temperature to be chosen according to the desired effect. A warm light reinforces the welcoming atmosphere on terraces or porches used for socializing. A more neutral light may be more practical in passageways or entrances.

The IP65 rating guarantees complete protection against dust and water jets, making it a safe option for outdoor use in any climate. There is no need to remove it during rainy seasons or protect it with additional covers.

Questions and answers

Can the NARA lamp be installed in an area completely exposed to rain, without a roof to cover it?

Yes. The IP65 rating indicates that it is protected against water jets from any direction, so it can be installed outdoors without cover. Even so, it is recommended to periodically check the condition of the cable and the ceiling fixing.

Does the opal diffuser affect the amount of light emitted by the lamp?

The opal diffuser disperses light evenly, which reduces direct bright spots. The amount of light depends on the E27 bulb installed, as it is not included. Within the 12 W limit, you can choose the power and temperature that best suits the space.

Can the steel body with a rust brown finish deteriorate with prolonged sun exposure?

The finish is designed for outdoor use and withstands normal exposure to the elements. To keep it in good condition, occasional cleaning with a soft cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products that could alter the surface.
