Overview

NARA is a pendant lamp designed for outdoor use. Its beige finish and opal diffuser give it a calm appearance that fits both modern environments and spaces with a more rustic touch. It can be installed on a porch, terrace, patio, or any covered outdoor area where a fixed and durable light source is needed.

The IP65 certification ensures that the lamp is protected against dust and water jets. This means it can be exposed to rain or humidity without affecting its performance. There is no need to move or cover it when the weather changes.

The body is made of steel with a beige finish, a color that does not clash with light-colored facades or vegetation. The diffuser is made of PEMD in an opal tone, which distributes light softly, without bright spots or shadowed areas.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine functional design with materials built to last, both indoors and outdoors.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, an anchor point on the ceiling with existing electrical wiring is required. Before starting the installation, cut the power from the electrical panel. Check that the mounting surface can support the weight of the assembly. If the ceiling is made of wood, concrete, or another material that requires specific anchors, use the appropriate ones for each case. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially outdoors where technical requirements are higher.

To keep the lamp in good condition, clean the steel body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the beige finish. The opal diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not use pressurized water directly on the luminaire even though it has IP65 rating, as this protection is designed for normal weather conditions, not for cleaning with a high-pressure hose.

Design and use

The NARA lamp has a clean cylindrical shape, with a diameter of 460 mm and a height of 354 mm. These are dimensions that make it visible without being disproportionate. On a medium-sized porch or a covered terrace, it illuminates the space evenly thanks to the opal diffuser, which softens the light from the bulb and prevents direct glare.

The steel body gives it solidity. It is not a light or fragile lamp. At nearly 1.7 kg, it feels built to last. The beige finish is neutral and discreet, making it easy to fit into different styles without forcing the combination. In a patio with stone or light ceramic flooring, the beige integrates naturally. In a garden with dense vegetation, it contrasts gently without disrupting the atmosphere.

The PEMD diffuser in an opal tone serves a practical purpose: it distributes light in all directions without creating sharp shadows. This is useful in areas where general visibility is needed, such as the entrance to a home, an outdoor gallery, or a passageway. It does not produce the cold, harsh light feeling that some more functional outdoor lights have.

The IP65 certification is one of the most relevant aspects of this pendant lamp. It means the lamp is completely sealed against dust and resistant to water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor areas with direct exposure to rain, though always within the limits of its installation. It is not a submersible luminaire, but it is prepared to withstand the weather without deteriorating quickly.

The porch of a house, a covered terrace, the exterior of a commercial space, or an inner courtyard with outdoor access are all places where this pendant lamp works well. In spaces with a more natural or traditional aesthetic, the beige finish can evoke a classic lantern without becoming overdone. In environments with cleaner, more modern lines, its cylindrical shape and neutral color blend in seamlessly.

As a main light source in outdoor passageways or relaxation areas, this lamp provides continuous and stable illumination. When combined with other garden lights or ground spotlights, it can be part of a more complete lighting scheme. Its E27 socket accepts standard LED bulbs, allowing you to choose the color temperature that best suits the space: warmer light for relaxation areas, more neutral for entrances or outdoor work areas. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

Questions and answers

Can the NARA lamp be installed on an uncovered terrace where rain falls directly on it?

Yes. The lamp has IP65 certification, which protects against dust and water jets from any direction. It is designed for outdoor use and can withstand exposure to rain under normal weather conditions.

What type of bulb is compatible with this pendant lamp?

It accepts bulbs with an E27 socket, preferably LED with a maximum power of 12 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

Does the PEMD opal diffuser hold up well in outdoor conditions exposed to sunlight and temperature changes?

PEMD is a material designed for applications where resistance and stability are required. The opal diffuser is designed to function in outdoor conditions together with the rest of the luminaire's components, which holds IP65 certification.
