Overview

The SCREEN floor lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed to illuminate gardens, parks and open-air spaces where stable, long-lasting light is needed. With a height of 3.1 metres, it covers walkways, access paths or rest areas well without creating annoying shadows. The version with 180º distribution projects light asymmetrically, which is useful when the lamp post is placed next to a wall or along the edge of a path.

The body is made of aluminium and polycarbonate, materials that hold up well in outdoor conditions. The IP65 rating protects the unit against rain and dust. The IK10 impact resistance rating indicates that the structure withstands knocks without deteriorating. The included COB LED light source operates at 2700K, a warm colour temperature that gives the surroundings a welcoming appearance at nightfall.

FARO is a Spanish company with a long track record in the lighting sector. Its products are aimed at both professional projects and domestic use, with attention to finish and functionality.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is necessary to prepare the anchor point in the ground following the manufacturer's instructions. As this is an outdoor lamp post connected to the mains at 220V-240V, the connection work must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before installing it, it is advisable to check that the underground wiring or conduit is in good condition and protected. The base must be properly levelled so that the post remains vertical.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminium surface and the polycarbonate diffuser with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish should not be used. Although the IP65 rating protects against water, it is advisable to periodically check that the seals and gaskets are in good condition, especially after periods of heavy rain or extreme temperatures.

Design and use

The SCREEN collection by FARO was conceived as a technical outdoor lighting proposal. It is not a conventional decorative luminaire, but a lamp post designed to provide functional and durable illumination in spaces that require it. The design is clean and geometric, with a profile that does not particularly draw attention during the day, but which fulfils its function well once night falls.

The aluminium body gives it solidity without adding unnecessary weight. This material withstands prolonged exposure to sunlight, humidity and temperature changes. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows light to pass through without altering it, making it possible to make full use of the power of the included COB LED. The dark grey finish integrates naturally into gardens with vegetation, stone or cement paving, and contemporary-style buildings.

The lamp post measures 3.1 metres in height, a common dimension for garden or park luminaires that aim to illuminate large areas without being excessively imposing. At that height, light is well distributed over the surrounding area and avoids direct glare for those walking nearby. The asymmetric 180º distribution option is especially practical when the post is placed next to a wall, a fence or at the boundary of a property, as it concentrates all the light towards the useful side without wasting it in the other direction.

The colour temperature of 2700K gives a warm tone, similar to traditional incandescent light. That warmth makes the garden or patio take on a more welcoming appearance at nightfall, without the coldness that white light sources usually convey. The COB LED offers a compact, high-density light point, which contributes to a more uniform distribution over the ground.

The CASAMBI version allows the lamp post to be integrated into a wireless control system. From an app, it is possible to adjust the intensity, programme on and off times, or manage several luminaires at once. This is convenient for those who want to control the lighting of a garden or an access area without having to install more complex automation systems. Compatibility with CASAMBI also makes it easy to add other luminaires from the SCREEN collection or others on the same platform.

Regarding protection, IP65 guarantees that neither rain nor dust will affect the internal operation. IK10 is the highest classification for impact resistance, meaning the luminaire is not damaged by accidental knocks, which can occur in frequently used spaces such as parks or communal areas of housing developments. This combination of protections makes the lamp post suitable for both private gardens and installations in public or communal areas.

Questions and answers

What does the 180º asymmetric lighting option mean on this lamp post?

The 180º asymmetric distribution concentrates all the light towards one side of the post. It is useful when the lamp post is placed next to a wall, a fence or at the edge of a path, as it directs the lighting towards the area to be illuminated without projecting light in the opposite direction.

What level of protection does the IP65 and IK10 rating of this luminaire offer?

IP65 indicates that the unit is completely protected against dust and resists water jets from any direction, making it well suited to rain. IK10 is the highest level of resistance to mechanical impacts, meaning the body withstands knocks without deteriorating.

Is the COB LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 38 W COB LED light source is included with the lamp post. It is not necessary to purchase it separately or carry out any additional bulb installation before starting up the luminaire.
