Overview

The SAU 155 is an outdoor LED spotlight designed to illuminate specific elements in gardens, facades, and open-air spaces. Its 20° beam angle concentrates light with precision, making it useful when you want to highlight a plant, a tree, a stone wall, or any architectural detail. It is not a general-purpose luminaire: it is a spotlight designed to direct, focus, and enhance.

The black aluminum and ABS body gives it a compact and discreet profile. At night, the spotlight visually disappears and only the result is visible: the light on the chosen element to illuminate. Outdoors, that makes the difference between a flat garden and one with depth and atmosphere.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its outdoor products are designed to withstand real use in varied climates, with finishes and materials that hold up over time.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation: The spotlight is fixed directly to the wall by anchoring. Before installing, it is advisable to precisely mark the attachment point and verify that the surface is solid and flat. The connection must be made with the power supply switched off. If there is no prior experience with outdoor electrical installations, it is recommended to hire an electrician. Cable routing and wall passages must comply with local regulations.

Use and maintenance: The IP65 protection allows the spotlight to be exposed to rain and dust without any issue. For cleaning, a damp cloth on the body and diffuser is sufficient. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish or the diffuser material. Periodically check that the seals and sealing are in good condition, especially after periods of extreme cold or heat.

Design and use

The SAU 155 takes up little space on the wall but its effect in the garden or on the facade is clear and defined. With a 20° beam angle, the light beam is narrow and directed, allowing you to aim precisely at where you want to place the visual focus. This makes it different from a wide-area luminaire: here the intention is to illuminate a point, not an entire space.

The color temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, similar to that of a late afternoon sun. On the garden floor, on the leaves of a plant, or on the texture of a stone wall, that tone adds warmth without distorting natural colors. In nocturnal outdoor settings, that warm tone creates a more welcoming atmosphere than cool or neutral light.

The body is made of aluminum combined with ABS, two materials that offer resistance without adding unnecessary weight. Aluminum dissipates the heat generated by the LED well, which contributes to a long lifespan for the light source. ABS adds lightness and facilitates molding into clean and compact shapes. The result is a spotlight that does not require frequent maintenance and that maintains its appearance over time.

The transparent PC diffuser allows light to pass through without excessive diffusion, preserving the precision of the beam. There is no appreciable loss of intensity: the light reaches the chosen point with the same strength with which it leaves the spotlight. That is relevant when illuminating elements at a certain distance from the ground, such as the canopy of a tree or a vertical element on a facade.

The IP65 protection guarantees that the spotlight can be installed outdoors without restrictions due to rain or ambient humidity. It is a suitable rating for gardens, patios, terraces, and exposed facades. It does not require any additional protection or cover to function correctly in rainy conditions.

The black color of the body integrates it well into natural environments or dark facades. During the day it goes unnoticed, and at night attention is directed toward what it illuminates, not toward the spotlight itself. It is a reflector that works in the background.

Its compact size, with 155 mm in height and 76 mm in diameter, allows it to be installed in tight spaces or in positions where a larger luminaire would be excessive. It can be used in series, placing several spotlights along a garden path or around a planting area, to create a continuous and orderly lighting effect. It also works well as a single spotlight when the goal is to highlight a single element: a singular tree, a sculpture, a wall with special texture.

The integrated COB LED light source offers uniform emission within the 20° angle. Since it is included in the product, there is no need to search for compatible bulbs or make any adaptations. The direct connection to the 220V-240V mains makes it compatible with any standard electrical installation in Spain and Europe.

Questions and answers

Can the SAU 155 spotlight be installed in an area directly exposed to rain?

Yes. It has IP65 protection, which means it is sealed against dust ingress and resists direct water jets. It is suitable for outdoor installation without the need for additional cover.

Is the 20° angle suitable for illuminating a large plant or a tree several meters tall?

It depends on the distance between the spotlight and the element to be illuminated. The 20° beam is narrow and precise, ideal for highlighting details or illuminating vertical elements at a moderate distance. For very wide trees it may be necessary to combine several spotlights.

Is the COB LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

It comes included from the factory. The spotlight arrives ready to connect, with no need to purchase or install any additional light source.
