Overview

SAVOY is a wall light designed for indoor lighting. It combines two functions in a single body: it illuminates the environment with a soft, diffused light, while also incorporating a LED reader oriented towards reading. This dual functionality makes it useful both in the bedroom and in the living room, where having ambient light and reading light at a single point on the wall makes real sense.

The green fabric shade and the matt black metal structure give it a clear visual character. The upper ring, from which light is reflected towards the ceiling, creates an indirect lighting effect that adds depth to the space without being intrusive. The lamp was designed by Isaac Piñeiro for the Spanish brand FARO, known for its work in designer luminaires for residential environments.

Installation and specifications

For installation, the wall light must be fixed directly to the wall with anchors appropriate to the surface type. Before starting, make sure the electrical installation at the chosen point has been switched off at the main panel. The wiring must be concealed in the wall or managed with a cable duct if the wall is not prepared for embedded cables. If you have no experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire a certified electrician.

For maintenance of the wall light, clean the metal structure with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The fabric shade requires care: avoid wetting it directly and do not use chemical products on it. Do not touch the LED reader when it is on, as it may be hot. Only replace the bulb with the wall light disconnected from the power supply.

Design and use

The SAVOY wall light starts from a matt black steel structure that anchors stably to the wall. The dark finish does not easily accumulate visible marks and fits with painted surfaces, exposed brick, or more contemporary claddings. Its profile is not bulky: 230 mm in length and 265 mm in depth make it suitable for walls where lateral space is limited.

The green textile shade is the element that visually defines the lamp. The fabric filters and softens the light emitted towards the front, creating a warm atmosphere without the light source being uncomfortable to look at. At the same time, the metal ring at the top acts as a reflector: it directs part of the light towards the ceiling, which broadens the perception of the space and avoids that feeling of excessively punctual and concentrated lighting.

The integrated LED reader allows light to be focused in a specific direction, something that is appreciated in the bedroom for reading without disturbing others, or in the living room for illuminating a specific corner without needing to switch on the main lamp. The light source has an E27 socket, an accessible standard that makes replacement easy when necessary.

As a wall light, SAVOY adapts to various contexts within the home. In the bedroom it works as a bedside lamp without taking up space on the nightstand. In the living room it can be placed on one or both sides of a sofa, where it combines well with light wood furniture or with Nordic design elements. In a hallway, it provides orientation light with a visual point of interest that does not feel cluttered.

It can also be considered for the bathroom if the electrical installation complies with regulations for wet zones, although this should be verified with the installer. Likewise, in the kitchen or dining room it can be used as supplementary light over a specific work area or next to a table, complementing the main lighting. In longer hallways, distributing several wall lights of this type at the same height creates a clean visual continuity.

The SAVOY lamp is modern without being flashy. It does not require a very defined interior design style to work: its combination of matt black and green textile fits in contemporary spaces, but also in more eclectic environments where different materials coexist. Its decorative character does not detract from functionality, and its dual ambient and reading function makes it a practical solution for rooms where more than one lighting need is to be concentrated at a single point on the wall.

Questions and answers

Does the SAVOY wall light include the E27 bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The wall light uses an E27 socket, a very common format that you will easily find in any lighting store or hardware shop. Make sure to choose an LED bulb compatible with the maximum power of 15 W.

Does the upper ring reflect light in all directions or only towards the ceiling?

The ring is located at the top of the structure and reflects light mainly upwards, that is, towards the ceiling. This creates an indirect lighting effect that helps to soften the atmosphere of the room without the light being direct or uncomfortable.

Can the green textile shade deteriorate from the heat of the bulb?

The shade is designed to work with the indicated light source. Using bulbs that do not exceed the recommended 15 W helps to keep the fabric in good condition for longer. Avoid high-wattage incandescent bulbs.
