The design is by Isaac Piñeiro and is manufactured by FARO, a Spanish brand with a track record in decorative home lighting. Its catalogue ranges from simple solutions to pieces with their own character, and SAVOY fits well into that second category.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light you need access to a wall outlet or to run the wiring from the junction box. The light fixture is mounted directly on the vertical surface. Given its weight of nearly 1.7 kg, make sure the wall plugs and screws are suitable for the type of wall — plasterboard, brick or concrete each require different anchors. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician. The bulb is not included: you will need an E27 base bulb with a maximum power of 15 W.

The fabric shade can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without harsh chemical products. The matte black steel structure can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged direct moisture on the electrical components. Do not exceed the maximum rated wattage when choosing the LED bulb.

Design and use

The SAVOY wall light has a steel body in a matte black finish. It is a material that does not deform easily and maintains a stable finish over time. Matte black, unlike glossy finishes, does not show dirt or fingerprints, making it practical in high-traffic areas.

The shade is fabric and also black. This means that light does not pass through the shade in a diffuse way as it would with a translucent material. Lighting is directed mainly downward, with controlled intensity. This characteristic makes the wall light work well as ambient or supplementary lighting, not as a primary source in large spaces.

The most distinctive detail of this lamp is the metal ring located at the top. When the light rises and meets that ring, a reflection is created that is projected onto the wall. The result is an illuminated area at the top of the lamp, which adds visual depth to the corner where the wall light is installed. This effect is especially visible on smooth, light-coloured walls.

In a bedroom, placed at bedside table height, this wall light replaces table lamps without taking up surface space. The light is oriented toward the book or the immediate area, and the upper reflection does not disturb during rest.

In a living room it can work as lateral lighting above a sofa or next to a wall unit. It does not visually compete with other elements, but it does not go unnoticed either. The matte black integrates well with metal structures, dark shelving or neutral upholstery.

In hallways and circulation areas, a wall light of these characteristics serves a dual purpose: it provides enough light to move around comfortably and adds a point of visual interest to an area that is usually left untreated. In long hallways, two symmetrical units create a sense of order and spaciousness.

In the bathroom, installed above or beside the mirror, it provides oriented light that is useful for specific tasks. The sober design does not interfere with other bathroom elements and suits both a modern bathroom and one with more neutral finishes.

In a kitchen or dining room, the wall light can work as complementary lighting in areas where the main lighting does not reach with sufficient intensity. On a side wall in the dining room, for example, it creates a warmer atmosphere during meals when combined with a warm-temperature LED bulb.

Questions and answers

Does the wall light include the E27 bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. You need to purchase an E27 base bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. It is recommended to use an LED bulb to make better use of energy consumption and lifespan.

What kind of reflection does the upper ring generate and under what conditions is it best appreciated?

The metal ring located at the top of the structure reflects the light that rises from the source onto the wall. The effect is most clearly visible on light-coloured walls with smooth surfaces, where the halo of light is well defined.

Is this wall light compatible with voltages from different countries?

Yes. The lamp operates in a range of 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard mains voltage in Spain, the rest of Europe and other countries outside the continent.
