Overview

The MATILDA wall light, by FARO Barcelona, is a surface-mounted lamp designed for indoor spaces. Its movable arm allows you to direct the shade wherever needed, making it useful both for functional lighting and for creating a warmer atmosphere in any corner of the home.

This type of wall light works well in a bedroom where you want reading light close to the bed, in a hallway that needs specific light points, or in a living room where you want to highlight an area without installing a ceiling spotlight. It can also work in the kitchen, where you sometimes need to illuminate a work area without relying on the general ceiling light.

FARO Barcelona is a Spanish company with experience in lighting for domestic and professional use. Their products combine functionality with attention to finish detail, and the MATILDA collection is a clear example of that line of work: clean shapes, without unnecessary ornamentation, designed to integrate into different types of interiors.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light correctly, it is recommended to have basic knowledge of domestic electrical work or to hire an electrician. Before starting the installation, make sure the power is cut off at the main switch. The fixture is mounted directly on the wall, using appropriate anchors depending on the type of surface, whether brick wall, plasterboard, or similar. The wall light accepts voltages between 100V and 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical installation in Spain and in most European countries. The E14 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately, with a maximum power of 15W.

To keep the wall light in good condition, simply clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth. The use of abrasive products or liquids directly on the steel body is not recommended. Before any cleaning, the lamp should be switched off and allowed to cool down. Do not handle the socket or the bulb while the power is connected.

Design and use

The MATILDA wall light stands out for its clear geometry. The straight lines and the absence of superfluous decorative elements give it a neat appearance that does not compete with other elements in the space, but rather integrates into them. The beige color of the steel body is a neutral tone that adapts to both white walls and warmer finishes, without creating a harsh contrast.

The movable arm is one of the most practical features of this lamp. It allows you to adjust the direction of the light according to the current use, something not all wall lights offer. In a bedroom, that means being able to direct the light toward a book without disturbing the person sleeping next to you. In a living room, it can be directed toward a painting, a plant, or any point you want to highlight. This possibility of adjustment turns the wall light into a flexible solution, not just a decorative one.

The shade is also orientable, which adds another level of control over the light it emits. The result is a lamp that the user can adapt to different situations without needing to change anything in the installation.

As for the finish, the steel body in beige has a discreet presence. It is not a lamp that draws attention to itself, but one that does its job well and integrates into its surroundings. That discretion is what makes it compatible with very different interior styles: from spaces with modern-lined furniture to rooms with a more classic or neutral decoration.

In the kitchen, this wall light can be installed above a countertop or preparation area where the ceiling light does not reach with sufficient intensity. In the dining room, it can complement the central lighting by creating a warmer light zone next to a wall or sideboard. In the bathroom, the wall light is a common option next to the mirror, provided that the safety zones for electrical installations are respected. In hallways, its compact profile and direct wall mounting make it a clean solution that takes up no space.

The MATILDA collection is part of FARO Barcelona's interior wall light catalogue, and maintains the aesthetic consistency that characterises the brand: design without excess, quality materials and finishes that hold up well over time.

Questions and answers

Does the wall light arm allow the height of the shade to be adjusted as well as its orientation?

Yes. According to the manufacturer's information, the shade is orientable and the height can also be adjusted thanks to the movable arm, which allows the position of the light to be adapted to the specific needs of each space.

Is the E14 socket compatible with standard LED bulbs found in regular stores?

Yes. The E14 socket is one of the most common in the European market. Any LED bulb with that type of socket and a maximum power of 15W is compatible with this wall light. Please note that the bulb is not included.

Can the steel body in beige be installed in a bathroom?

The wall light is categorised as an interior luminaire. To install it in a bathroom, you must verify that the intended location complies with the safety zones established by electrical regulations, which limit where a lamp can be placed based on its distance from water sources.
