Overview

MAGRITTE is an adjustable wall light designed specifically to illuminate paintings and works of art. It mounts directly on the wall and directs light toward the exact point where it is needed, without drawing attention to the lamp itself. It is a solution designed for those who want to highlight a specific piece without adding a visually heavy element to the space.

The wall light works well in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, or dining rooms — in any space where there is something that deserves to be seen clearly. The warm 3000K light creates a calm atmosphere and enhances color perception in paintings, photographs, or framed illustrations.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products combine functionality and quality materials, designed to integrate into the home without complications.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, a junction box or a recessed cable outlet point is required. The body is fixed directly to the surface, so the wall must be level. It is recommended to carry out the installation with the power switched off and, if you do not have experience with electrical work, to seek the help of an electrician. The driver is included, which simplifies the process.

To clean the lamp, simply wipe the aluminum and steel surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. The PMMA diffuser is cleaned in the same way, avoiding abrasive products that may scratch it. It should not be cleaned while the lamp is on or connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The MAGRITTE wall light has a very restrained profile. With only 40 mm in height and a satin nickel finish, it does not draw attention to itself. The body, made of aluminum and steel, has a solid construction that ensures stability on the wall without the light shifting over time. The opal PMMA diffuser softens the light beam so that it does not appear harsh on the illuminated surface.

The adjustable orientation is the most practical feature of this wall light. It allows the beam angle to be adjusted according to the position of the painting or piece to be illuminated, something that not all picture lights offer. Once adjusted, the light stays fixed exactly where it is needed.

In the living room, this type of lamp transforms the perception of the space. A wall with a well-lit painting gains depth and becomes the focal point of the room without the need to add more decorative elements. In the dining room, a wall light directed toward a work on the wall creates a more refined atmosphere during meals. In the bedroom, it can be used to highlight a photograph or a piece with personal value, providing a warm light that complements rest well.

Hallways are another space where this wall light fits effortlessly. In narrow hallways, where space is limited, a surface-mounted lamp like this one does not take up more than necessary and fulfills its function discreetly. It can be installed at the appropriate height so that the beam points directly at the work hung on the opposite wall or on the same wall.

As for the bathroom, although it is not the most common destination for a picture light, there are situations where it makes sense: a spacious bathroom with careful decoration, where there is a framed piece or a decorative mirror worth highlighting with directed light.

The 3000K temperature produces a warm white light, similar to incandescent light, which enhances the perception of warm tones in oil paintings, watercolors, or printed photographs. The color rendering index CRI greater than 80 allows colors to be seen with considerable fidelity compared to how they appear in natural light. This makes it more suitable than many general-purpose lamps for the specific purpose of illuminating paintings.

The clean-lined design means that MAGRITTE integrates well with modern, Nordic, or minimalist styles. It does not create contrast or distract. In an environment with white walls or neutral tones, the satin nickel finish goes almost unnoticed. In spaces with light wood or metallic elements, the finish complements without clashing.

The 6W power output means consumption is low for continuous use, which is practical if the lamp is to remain on for several hours a day.

Questions and answers

Does the MAGRITTE wall light include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is included, along with the driver required for its operation. No additional components need to be purchased to turn it on from the very first moment.

Is the head of the wall light adjustable or does it stay fixed in one position?

The wall light is adjustable, allowing the beam angle to be set according to the position and size of the painting to be illuminated. Once adjusted, it stays fixed in that position.

Is the body of the wall light plastic or metal?

The body is made of aluminum and steel with a satin nickel finish. It is a metal construction, which gives it solidity and a more refined appearance compared to lightweight materials.
