Overview

The LAO wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for those looking for a functional light source without overcomplicating the space. Its minimalist style and matte black finish allow it to blend into different environments without drawing too much attention — it simply does its job, and does it well.

It works well in a bedroom, hallway, bathroom, or any corner where lighting is needed without taking up floor or table space. The lamp includes a switch on the base, making it easy to turn the light on or off without having to reach the wall switch. A practical detail that is appreciated in daily use.

FARO is a brand with a long track record in the lighting industry, with collections designed for both everyday use and interior design projects. LAO is part of that home-oriented line, where design is not an add-on, but part of the concept from the very beginning.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, you need access to a nearby electrical connection point or must hire an electrician to run the wiring to the chosen location. The wall light is mounted directly onto the vertical surface, with no need for additional structures. Before starting installation, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. It is recommended to check that the wall offers a flat and firm surface to ensure a stable mounting.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish or the PMMA diffuser. Do not handle the lamp with the power connected or when the body is hot after prolonged use.

Design and use

The LAO wall light has a compact profile that makes it suitable for spaces where there is not much room. With 155 mm in height and 120 mm in depth, it does not protrude from the wall any more than necessary. In a narrow hallway, for example, that restraint matters. In the bathroom too, where space often requires choosing compact solutions.

The body is made of aluminium combined with ABS. The aluminium provides solidity and durability without adding unnecessary weight. The ABS, in turn, allows the details to be shaped with precision and maintains a uniform finish over time. The unit weighs 0.6 kg, making it easy to handle during installation.

The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish. This material distributes light evenly, without bright spots or harsh contrasts. The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to traditional incandescent light, which is pleasant in rooms where a relaxed atmosphere is desired. In a bedroom, that kind of light suits the final hours of the day. In the dining room, it creates an intimate tone that does not tire the eyes.

The integrated 4 W LED consumes very little energy compared to conventional light sources. The lamp arrives ready to use, with the light source included, so there is no need to look for additional bulbs or make any adjustments before turning it on for the first time.

The switch on the base of the wall light is an element that may seem minor but significantly changes the user experience. In the bathroom, it allows you to turn the light on or off without leaving the washbasin area. In a living room or bedroom, it avoids having to get up to the wall switch to turn off the lamp before going to sleep. In the kitchen, it can serve as supplementary lighting over a specific work area, with direct control from the wall light itself.

The matte black finish is compatible with modern interiors, but also fits without issue in spaces with a more neutral or industrial aesthetic. It does not stand out excessively, and that makes it versatile. Against a white wall it creates a clean contrast. Against a dark wall, it blends in almost completely and lets the light take centre stage.

In terms of application, this wall light can be used as the main lighting in small spaces such as bathrooms or hallways, or as a complement in larger rooms where a central light source already exists. In the dining room, positioned at the right height, it can accompany a ceiling lamp without competing with it. In the kitchen, placed above the worktop or near the preparation area, it provides directed light where it is most needed.

The LAO collection, designed by Nahtrang for FARO, responds to a clear idea: to meet a lighting need without adding visual noise to the space. It is a lamp that does not aim to be the centre of attention, but to do its job well and last.

Questions and answers

Does the LAO wall light include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the integrated SMD LED light source. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb. It is ready to connect and install.

Is the 3000K colour temperature suitable for the bathroom or bedroom?

Yes. 3000K produces a warm light, similar to classic incandescent light. It is a temperature that feels comfortable in spaces such as the bathroom or bedroom, where a calm atmosphere is desired without cold or excessively intense light.

Does the integrated switch replace the wall switch or do they work independently?

The switch integrated into the base of the wall light allows you to control the lamp directly, without needing to use the wall switch. Both can work in a complementary way depending on how the electrical installation is carried out.
