Overview

The GALA wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for bathrooms and spaces where humidity is present. Its IP44 protection makes it suitable for installation near mirrors, washbasins, or showers without concern. The chrome aluminium body and opal glass diffuser combine solidity with a classic aesthetic that does not depend on trends.

The light it emits is soft and uniform thanks to the opal diffuser. There is no glare or overly dark areas. It is a practical solution for those who want good bathroom lighting without complicating the overall design of the space.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its products are manufactured with quality materials and are designed to last under real domestic use conditions.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, it is recommended to have a power outlet prepared in the wall, with wiring already integrated into the surface. The fixture is mounted directly onto the wall, so it is advisable to verify that the support is solid before starting. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is preferable to have it installed by an electrician. The lamp does not include a G9 LED bulb, so you will need to purchase one separately before the first start-up.

The chrome aluminium body can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents, as they may damage the finish. The opal glass diffuser can be cleaned in the same way, taking care not to apply excessive pressure. Do not submerge any part of the lamp in water. Although it has IP44 protection, it is not designed to receive water directly.

Design and use

The GALA wall light has a classic design that adapts well to bathrooms with a traditional style, but also fits seamlessly in more understated or contemporary settings. The combination of chrome aluminium and opal glass gives it an elegant appearance without feeling overdone. It is a lamp that does not draw too much attention to itself, but visibly improves the atmosphere of the space where it is installed.

The glass diffuser disperses light evenly. In a bathroom, this means it illuminates the mirror area well without creating harsh shadows on the face, something you particularly appreciate when getting ready in the mornings. The opal finish of the glass filters the direct light source and produces a calmer, more comfortable brightness for the eyes.

The aluminium structure is lightweight yet sturdy. Weighing just 0.34 kg net, it places no significant load on the wall. Its dimensions — 320 mm high, 115 mm long, and 150 mm deep — allow it to be installed in small spaces without looking disproportionate. In small bathrooms, where every centimetre matters, this wall light takes up no more space than necessary.

The IP44 protection is a relevant detail for understanding where it can be installed. It means the lamp resists water splashes from any direction, making it safe to place in zone 2 of the bathroom, such as near the washbasin or mirror. It is not intended to be installed inside the shower or in direct contact with water, but it is designed to coexist without issues with the humidity typical of these spaces.

Although the bathroom is its primary destination, this wall light can also work well in hallways with little natural light, where a fixed wall lamp that does not take up space is needed. In narrow or high-traffic corridors, the compact profile of GALA is a clear advantage. It can also be considered for a bedroom where side lighting is preferred over a central ceiling light, especially in rooms with a classic decorative touch.

The lamp uses a G9 socket, compatible with low-consumption LED bulbs. This allows for controlled electricity consumption and a colour temperature of your choice depending on the type of bulb purchased. The supported voltage, between 100 V and 240 V, makes it compatible with the standard electrical installation of any home in Spain and in most parts of the world.

In terms of style, GALA fits with environments where glass and metal take centre stage. It pairs well with chrome taps, metal mirror frames, or bathroom accessories in silver tones. It does not require the entire bathroom to follow a single rigid style, but there should be consistency in the metal finishes for the overall look to feel harmonious.

Questions and answers

Does the GALA lamp include the G9 LED bulb at the time of purchase?

No, the G9 LED bulb is not included. You will need to purchase it separately before installing the lamp. Make sure to choose a bulb compatible with a G9 socket and a maximum power of 6 W.

Can the chrome finish on the body deteriorate due to bathroom humidity?

The chrome-finished aluminium body is protected to withstand the humidity typical of bathrooms. The IP44 protection ensures that the lamp resists water splashes, which helps preserve the finish under normal conditions of use.

In which zone of the bathroom can this wall light be installed according to its IP44 protection rating?

With IP44, this wall light is suitable for installation in zone 2 of the bathroom, meaning at a minimum distance of 60 cm from the shower or bathtub. It must not be placed in zone 1 or in areas of direct contact with water.
