Overview

DANUBIO is a wall light by FARO designed for those looking for a reliable lighting solution in wet areas. Thanks to its IP44 rating, it is prepared to withstand water splashes, making it a suitable option for the bathroom without the need for special adaptations.

The lamp comes with integrated LED technology, so there is no need to buy bulbs separately. It mounts directly on the wall and provides warm, uniform light that complements daily routines. The chrome aluminium body and opal glass diffuser give it a clean, understated look.

FARO is a Barcelona-based company that has been manufacturing luminaires for the residential and professional market for decades. Their products combine specific technical criteria with careful design, without falling into the overloaded.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure the electrical circuit is switched off at the main panel. The fixing is on the wall, so it is advisable to locate the anchors at a firm point, either on a masonry partition or with suitable plugs if the wall is drywall. As this is a bathroom luminaire, the connection box must be protected and the wiring must comply with regulations for wet areas. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire an electrician.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the chrome finish of the body or the glass of the diffuser. Do not submerge any part in water or use pressurised water to clean the luminaire, even though it has IP44 protection. Always disconnect the power before any maintenance task.

Design and use

The DANUBIO wall light has an elongated shape, with 575 mm in length and only 80 mm of depth from the wall. This makes it especially useful in spaces where margin is tight, such as medium-sized bathrooms or corridors with little available depth. It does not protrude excessively and does not cast pronounced shadows on the wall, something that is appreciated when the surface is tiled or has a smooth finish.

The body is made of aluminium with a chrome finish. It is a material that handles the humidity typical of bathrooms well and requires no special care. Chrome, for its part, does not accumulate dirt easily and maintains a clean appearance with little effort. The opal glass diffuser distributes light evenly, without bright spots or areas in shadow. The colour temperature of 2700K produces warm light, close to that of a traditional incandescent bulb, which is pleasant both for the bathroom and for other domestic settings.

The 18W SMD LED light source is integrated into the luminaire itself. There is no need to worry about finding replacement bulbs, as the module is part of the design. Energy efficiency is an additional advantage over older solutions, although in many cases the main purchasing criterion is the quality of light and the appearance of the wall light.

In the bathroom, this wall light works well placed above the mirror or on the sides, depending on the lighting scheme desired. The warm light favours a more relaxed atmosphere, which suits both an everyday bathroom and one designed for rest. The length of the wall light is sufficient to correctly illuminate a wide area without the need to install several lamps.

Although it is primarily designed for the bathroom, the DANUBIO wall light can also be installed in corridors or passageways where continuous, uninterrupted light is desired. In a long corridor, the elongated format of the wall light integrates naturally into the wall and avoids the effect of multiple spotlights or point luminaires that fragment the space. In a bedroom it can work as side lighting if placed on the wall next to the headboard, although it is worth considering whether the 2700K temperature fits with the rest of the light sources in the room.

In terms of style, the chrome finish and opal glass place it within a modern and restrained aesthetic that does not impose a specific decorative criterion. It combines well with white sanitary ware, glass screens, and metal elements in grey or silver. It can also work in a bedroom or living room if the rest of the setting has a similar register, clean and without ornamentation.

The net weight of 1.26 kg is moderate for a luminaire of these dimensions. It does not require a special support structure, only the usual anchors used for any wall light of similar size.

Questions and answers

Is the IP44 rating of this wall light sufficient to install it inside the shower or bathtub area?

No. IP44 protects against water splashes from any direction, but it is not sufficient for installations within immersion or direct shower zones. It is suitable for placement in the bathroom in general, but outside the direct reach of water.

Can the included LED light source be replaced if it fails?

The luminaire incorporates an integrated SMD LED module. This type of light source is not designed to be replaced independently by the user. In the event of failure, the most appropriate course of action is to contact customer service.

Does the 575 mm length significantly limit where it can be installed?

It depends on the available space. For narrow walls or reduced recesses it may be a factor to consider. However, in standard-sized bathrooms and corridors, that length does not usually present problems and allows for more uniform light distribution than a compact wall light.
