Overview

The FARO table lamp is a luminaire designed for indoor spaces where precise lighting and a neat appearance are desired. It works well on a bedside table, on a work desk, or as a light source in a dining room or living room. Its steel structure in a matte black finish and fabric shade give it a restrained profile that is easy to integrate into contemporary environments.

Estudi Ribaudí signed the design of this lamp, ensuring that form and function are conceived together. FARO is a reference brand in interior lighting, with years of experience in products that combine durability and good looks without falling into decorative excess.

Installation and specifications

No tools or anchors are needed to install this lamp. Simply place it on a flat, stable surface — a bedside table, a shelf, or the edge of a desk — and plug the cable into a standard power outlet. Before switching it on, make sure to install a suitable E27 LED bulb, as one is not included in the package. A bulb of up to 15 W is recommended so as not to exceed the rated power.

To clean the steel body, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The fabric shade can be cleaned with a soft brush or by vacuuming with a low-suction nozzle. Water should not be applied directly to the shade, nor should abrasive products be used. Always unplug the lamp before any cleaning.

Design and use

The lamp has a height of 470 mm and a diameter of 400 mm, proportions that make it noticeable without taking up too much space. It is the kind of piece that fits effortlessly on a bedroom bedside table, where the light needs to be both directed and warm. It is also practical on a desk, as it illuminates the work area without spreading beyond what is necessary.

The body is made of steel, a material that gives the structure solidity without adding excessive weight. The matte black finish avoids reflections and provides a modern look that does not compete with other elements in the surroundings. This type of finish is especially useful in interiors where several materials coexist: wood, concrete, fabric, or even ceramics. The lamp does not need to stand out in order to be present.

The fabric shade is one of the elements that most defines the character of this piece. It filters light softly, without creating harsh contrasts, and adds a visual texture that contrasts well with the coolness of the steel. In a living room with straight-lined furniture, that contrast of materials adds depth to the space. In a dining room, the lamp can work as a lateral or ambient light source, complementing a more powerful central lighting.

It is a lamp that is modern in form, but without depending on specific trends. It is not strictly Nordic, although it fits well in that type of interior. It is not industrial either, although metal and matte black are common elements in that aesthetic. What makes it versatile is precisely that it does not belong exclusively to any one style. It adapts to what is already in the space.

Estudi Ribaudí's design is evident in the proportional details. The relationship between the height of the body and the size of the shade is well balanced, which means the lamp looks neither too slender nor too bulky. On a bedside table, that proportion matters: the light has to reach the right place without the shade blocking the view or visually overloading the space. The same applies on a desk: the lamp has to be present without getting in the way.

The E27 socket is the most common on the market, making it easy to find the right bulb. A warm-temperature LED (2700–3000 K) is the most recommended option for nighttime use in bedrooms or living rooms. For a work desk, a neutral-light LED may be more practical. The lamp accommodates both without voltage restrictions, as it operates between 100 V and 240 V.

The matte black finish also makes visual maintenance easier. It does not show dust as readily as glossy finishes, and small marks from everyday use are barely noticeable. It is a minor detail, but one that is appreciated on a daily basis.

In summary, it is a table lamp that fulfills its main function well — providing localized light in a specific area — and does so with a contemporary look that fits in with the majority of today's interiors.

Questions and answers

Does this lamp require any type of anchor or special fixing to the wall or furniture?

No. It is a table luminaire, which means it rests directly on the surface where it is placed — a bedside table, a desk, or any other flat surface. It does not require screws, wall plugs, or any type of fixed installation.

Does the fabric shade withstand the heat generated by the bulb well?

Yes, as long as the indicated maximum power of 15 W is respected. With an LED bulb of that power or lower, the heat generated is very low and the shade suffers no deterioration.

Can the weight of 2.8 kg be a problem for placing it on a standard bedside table?

Generally not. The steel base distributes the weight well and the lamp remains stable on flat surfaces. A conventional bedside table or desk will have no problem supporting it.
