Overview

The FARO ACADEMY lamp is a table version designed for those looking for dimmable light without complications. It works well in the dining room, on a reading table, or in any corner where you need to control the light intensity depending on the time of day. It doesn't impose, it doesn't distract — it simply does its job with a clean, well-proportioned finish.

The Touch Dimmer system allows you to turn the light on, off, and adjust it with a single touch. No searching for a wall switch, no additional cables. Just touch the base and adjust what you need. That detail makes a difference when you use the lamp daily, especially on a desk or next to a sofa in the living room.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior lighting. Their collections combine functionality and design without going too far in either direction. ACADEMY is a good example of that: classic lines, carefully chosen materials, and integrated LED technology.

Installation and specifications

As a table lamp, it does not require fixed electrical installation. Simply place it on a stable surface, plug it into a standard outlet, and it is ready to use. Before turning it on, make sure the cable is not bent or trapped under any object. Check that the mains voltage is within the indicated range (100V–240V).

To clean the aluminium and chrome-plated steel base, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned with a dry cloth or a little warm water. Do not submerge any part of the lamp in water. Keep the lamp unplugged during cleaning.

Design and use

The ACADEMY collection was born with a clear idea: to offer a table lamp that works well without drawing too much attention. The table flex lamp maintains that same philosophy — balanced proportions, solid materials, and a chrome finish that does not go out of style over time.

The body is built from aluminium and steel, giving it stability without adding unnecessary weight. At under one kilogram, it is easy to move from place to place if you rearrange your space. You can take it from the dining table to the desk, from the bedroom nightstand to the living room, without any effort.

The PMMA opal diffuser distributes light softly, without creating annoying glare or pronounced shadows. At 3000K, the warm colour temperature promotes a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for reading at night without straining your eyes. The light is neither cold nor harsh — it is the kind that invites you to stay.

The integrated touch system — known as Touch Dimmer — allows you to adjust the light intensity without needing any external control. It is a practical solution for a bedside table, where you do not always have your hands free or the switch within reach. It is also useful on a work desk, where the light you need in the afternoon is not the same as at night.

The lamp fits well in interiors that combine natural materials with metallic accents. The chrome finish pairs well with light wood, marble, or ceramic surfaces. On a side table in the living room next to a linen sofa, or on a bedside table with a wooden top, the piece integrates without forcing anything.

For those with a more understated or Nordic décor, the lamp's clean profile is compatible without needing major adjustments. And if the space mixes styles, the chrome adds a touch of light that accompanies without dominating.

The included SMD LED consumes just 4W, meaning continuous use without a noticeable impact on electricity consumption. It is a lamp designed to be turned on often — for a nightstand that is in constant use, for a reading corner used daily, for a calm haven in the living room where someone is always seated.

In a dining room, the lamp can be placed on a sideboard or side console to create an ambient light point alongside the main lighting. In a bedroom, a lamp like this on the nightstand makes reading easier without disturbing the other side. On a work or study desk, it allows you to adapt the light to each task.

Questions and answers

Does the Touch Dimmer system allow multiple intensity levels or only on and off?

The Touch Dimmer adjusts the light intensity continuously, not just turning the light on or off. With each touch you can adjust the level until you find the one you need at any given moment.

Is the LED included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is included. You do not need to purchase any additional bulb — the lamp arrives ready to plug in and use.

Does it work with the standard electrical voltage in Spain?

Yes. The lamp is compatible with a voltage range of 100V to 240V, so it works without an adapter with the standard household voltage in Spain and in most European countries.
