Overview

The GABO wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for those who want directed lighting without sacrificing a refined finish. Its main function is reading: the adjustable reader allows you to focus light exactly where it is needed, without disturbing the rest of the space. It works well in the bedroom, next to the bed, but also makes sense in a hallway, on a staircase, or in any interior area where a precise and discreet light point is desired.

The wall light comes in matte black, a finish that does not visibly accumulate fingerprints and integrates well into contemporary interiors. The LED light source is included, so there is no need to purchase anything additional to start using it.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. The GABO model belongs to a line developed by Faro Lab, the brand's own design division, which ensures consistency between the form and function of the product.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure the wall is free of cables or pipes in the anchoring area. The wall light can be fixed directly to the surface or installed recessed, depending on preference and the conditions of the space. In both cases, it is advisable to have a junction box suitable for the chosen installation type. The connection must be made with the power off, and if you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to have an electrician handle it.

For cleaning, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. Do not handle the lamp with the power connected, and do not attempt to disassemble the LED module, which is an integrated part of the wall light.

Design and use

The body of the GABO wall light combines steel and aluminium, two materials that provide solidity without adding unnecessary weight. The assembly weighs less than half a kilogram, making installation on walls of various types easy without the need for special anchors. The matte black finish gives it a clean, uniform appearance, without any shine that could distract or wear over time.

The design of the wall light revolves around the reader: an adjustable element framed by a structure with a central cradle-shaped frieze. This detail is not merely decorative; it serves the function of holding and guiding the reader, giving it stability and allowing the direction of the light to be adjusted with ease. The lamp does not try to draw attention to itself, but works in the background.

The colour temperature of 2700K produces a warm light, similar to that of a traditional bulb. This tone is especially pleasant in rest spaces, such as the bedroom, where cooler lighting would feel unwelcoming. In a well-oriented bathroom, that same tone can work as a complement to the general lighting, adding a closer and more enveloping light point.

One of the practical advantages of the GABO wall light is that it can be installed in two different ways: surface-mounted, directly on the wall, or recessed. The recessed option allows it to be integrated into the wall so that only the reader remains visible, which is useful in rooms where a low visual profile is desired. This flexibility makes it useful in renovations where wall conditions vary from one space to another.

In a hallway, the lamp can serve the dual function of illuminating traffic flow and visually marking a specific area. On a staircase, the recessed installation is particularly interesting because it reduces the elements that protrude from the wall. The wall light also fits in work or reading environments within a room or living space, where localised lighting is needed without installing a floor or table lamp.

The integrated LED module eliminates the need to find compatible bulbs and ensures low consumption: 4 W is sufficient for this type of directed lighting. The light source is included from the outset, so the wall light is ready to use as soon as the installation is complete.

In terms of aesthetics, matte black pairs with a wide variety of finishes: light wood, cement grey, plain white, or dark-toned metals. It adapts well to contemporary-style interiors without feeling rigid. The compact form of the wall light prevents it from dominating the wall and leaves visual space for other elements in the environment.

Questions and answers

Can the GABO wall light be installed both surface-mounted and recessed in the wall?

Yes. The wall light allows both installation options: directly on the wall surface or recessed. The choice depends on the conditions of the space and aesthetic preference. The recessed version leaves only the reader visible, with a more discreet profile.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The light source is included. The wall light incorporates a 4 W high-power LED module with a colour temperature of 2700K, so there is no need to purchase any additional bulb for it to function.

What materials is the body of the GABO wall light made from?

The body is made of steel and aluminium with a matte black finish. This combination provides strength and lightness at the same time, with a net weight of 0.42 kg that makes it easy to fix to different types of wall.
