Overview

NIVA is an orientable pinhole recessed light from the brand FARO, designed for ceiling installation. Its compact design and white finish make it compatible with interiors where precise lighting is sought without visually distracting elements. It works with a GU10 socket bulb or LED module, although the bulb is not included, allowing you to choose the color temperature according to the atmosphere you want to achieve.

What sets this recessed light apart is the ability to direct the light beam. It is not limited to illuminating downward in a fixed manner: it can be directed toward a specific area, a painting, a countertop, or any point that needs more visual attention. This makes it a practical option both for functional lighting and for highlighting decorative elements within the room.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires for indoor and outdoor use. Its catalog ranges from ceiling lamps to technical lighting solutions, with special attention to finish and the integration of the product into the space.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed light in the ceiling, it is necessary to make a hole of 98 mm in diameter in the false ceiling. Before starting the installation, make sure to cut the electrical power at the main panel. The recessed light connects to the existing wiring and sits flush in the ceiling with no visible protruding elements, except for the front ring. It is recommended to verify that there is sufficient depth in the ceiling cavity to properly house the lamp. The head orientation is adjusted manually once the lamp is installed.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white aluminum finish. Do not handle the GU10 bulb directly with your hands to extend its lifespan. This recessed light has IP20 protection, so it is designed exclusively for use in dry interiors, away from areas with direct humidity such as showers or exteriors exposed to the elements.

Design and use

The body of NIVA is made of aluminum with a matte white finish. The aluminum provides stability and resistance to the heat generated by the bulb, while the white color allows it to blend effortlessly into white or light-colored ceilings, which are the most common in modern or contemporary-style homes.

The pinhole format defines how the lamp is perceived from below: only a small opening is visible from which the light emerges. This creates a clean visual effect, without the spotlight or the bulb being exposed. In spaces where the interior design seeks a certain discretion in lighting elements, this type of recessed light fits particularly well.

The orientability of the head is one of the most useful aspects of this model. In a kitchen, for example, it can be directed toward the work area above the countertop. In a dining room, it can point toward the center of the table to reinforce the lighting over food. In a bedroom, it can be directed toward the headboard to create a reading area without the need for an additional floor or pendant lamp. This adaptability means a single lamp can serve different functions depending on how it is positioned.

Modern bedrooms with smooth ceilings benefit especially from recessed lights like this one, as they allow the ceiling to remain clear while achieving directed and controlled lighting. In smaller spaces, where a pendant lamp or a conventional flush mount would take up too much visual space, the recessed light is the tidiest alternative.

In a dining room, combining several of these orientable recessed lights allows different focal points to be created without the need to install tracks or more complex lighting systems. The result is well-positioned lights with an integrated look in the ceiling, with no visible cables or accessories.

For Nordic, minimalist, or industrial style environments, the white finish and compact shape of this light fit naturally. It can also be installed in hallways, lobbies, or transitional spaces where spot lighting rather than general lighting is needed. In home office or remote working contexts, it can be directed toward the desk to complement natural light.

Its reduced weight, less than 200 grams, makes it easy to handle during installation. The contained dimensions, with only 37 mm in height, allow it to fit into false ceilings with little available depth, which is common in apartments or renovations where the margin for maneuver is limited.

As for compatibility with other elements, lights of this type work well combined with warmer ambient lights or with other modern design lamps in the same room. They allow lighting layers to be created without any element visually competing with another.

Questions and answers

Does the orientable head allow the tilt angle to be adjusted once the lamp is installed in the ceiling?

Yes. The head of NIVA is orientable and can be adjusted manually after installation to direct the light beam toward the desired point, without the need for additional tools.

Is this recessed light suitable for installation in an area close to the shower or in a bathroom with humidity?

No. NIVA has IP20 protection, which means it is designed for dry interiors. It is not suitable for areas with direct humidity, splashing, or outdoor environments.

Does the cutting diameter required in the false ceiling match the total diameter of the product?

The total diameter of the recessed light is 98 mm. The required cutting hole must match that measurement so that the lamp fits correctly in the ceiling.
