Overview

FLIC is a ceiling recessed light from the brand FARO designed for those who want clean, tidy lighting without the lamp drawing too much attention. Its small size and white finish allow it to blend effortlessly into smooth ceilings, leaving no visible frames or edges that break the continuity of the surface. It is an adjustable lamp, meaning you can change the lighting angle depending on where you want to direct the light.

The double trimless design is one of its most distinctive features. Unlike other recessed models, this lamp sits completely flush with the ceiling, with no outer rim. The result is an almost invisible integration that is especially useful when a clean, modern finish is desired in any room of the home.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in the lighting sector. Its products are aimed at both domestic use and interior design projects, combining functionality with careful design.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this lamp, make sure the opening in the ceiling has the right dimensions to accommodate the body of the recessed light. As it is a trimless system, the final finish also depends on how the opening in the false ceiling is prepared. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by an electrician, as it involves direct connection to the wiring. Verify that the GU10 LED light source you intend to use is compatible with the voltage available in your installation, which can operate between 100V and 277V.

For cleaning the body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white aluminium finish. Do not handle the lamp while the installation is connected to the power supply. The bulb is not included, so you will need to purchase it separately before using the light point.

Design and use

The body of this lamp is made of aluminium with a white finish, a material that provides both lightness and durability. Aluminium does not deform easily and retains its colour well over time, making it a practical choice for a recessed light that will be fixed to the ceiling for years.

The double trimless system is what visually defines this model. When correctly installed, the ring sits flush with the ceiling with no protrusion. This allows for a finish that resembles a light slot more than a conventional lamp. It is a common feature in interior design projects where lighting is part of the overall design of the space, rather than an element added afterwards.

The adjustable orientation adds a layer of functionality to this recessed light. You can rotate the head so the light points towards a wall, a painting, a work corner, or any specific area of the room. This makes it a more versatile solution than fixed recessed lights, where the lighting only falls vertically towards the floor.

In a kitchen, this type of lamp is commonly installed in a line above the worktop to illuminate the work area without shadows. It also works well in the dining room when you want to create a focused light over the table, directing the illumination exactly where it is needed. In the bedroom, it can be oriented towards the bedside table or the reading area, preventing the light from disturbing the rest of the space. In bedrooms with plaster or plasterboard ceilings that are already finished, the trimless finish looks particularly clean.

Its compact size, with only 55 mm in diameter, makes it compatible with thin ceilings and allows it to be installed even in spaces where bulkier recessed lights cannot fit. Although it is a model designed for indoor use, its neutral finish and clean lines allow it to coexist with very different styles, from modern interiors with straight lines to more eclectic spaces that combine natural materials with contemporary elements.

Recessed lights of this type work well in groups. Installed together, they generate distributed, even lighting that can complement other light sources in the living room, hallway, or any transitional area. They also combine well with a spotlight bar when alternating between general lighting and directed spotlights is desired. In a kitchen, for example, a bar above the hob can be combined with several FLIC recessed lights across the rest of the ceiling for uniform, functional lighting.

The discreet design and neutral style of this recessed light allow it to adapt without conflict to different environments. It does not visually compete with other decorative elements, but simply provides light where it is needed. For those looking for modern lighting solutions that do not clutter the ceiling, this lamp is a simple and effective option.

Questions and answers

What type of bulb does the FLIC require, and is it included in the package?

The FLIC recessed light uses an LED bulb with a GU10 base. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. Make sure the wattage does not exceed 3W to maintain the correct performance of the lamp.

Does the trimless system require any special ceiling preparation before installing the lamp?

Yes. As it is a double trimless recessed light, the ring sits flush with the ceiling surface without leaving a visible rim. To achieve that finish, the opening must be prepared with precision and, in many cases, the ceiling covering must be applied around the recessed light once it is in place. It is recommended to coordinate the installation with the finishing process of the false ceiling.

Can the head be adjusted after installation, or only before securing the lamp to the ceiling?

The head is adjustable and can also be repositioned after installation. This allows the light focus to be redirected as the needs of the space change, without having to remove the recessed light.
