Overview

The TATAWIN M lamp by FARO is a hanging ceiling luminaire designed by Adolfo Abejón. Its shade has a silhouette reminiscent of the typical constructions of Tataouine, a city in southeastern Tunisia. That architectural reference gives it a recognizable shape that is not excessive: it fits well in both domestic spaces and restoration or commercial projects.

This version features a glossy black glass shade and a multiple canopy for 7 lights. It is a lamp that works from a single ceiling anchor point and allows visual compositions with several light sources. The result is a tidy, characterful installation without the need to multiply connection points.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in interior and exterior lighting. Its products combine in-house design with carefully selected materials, and are aimed at those looking for something specific and different for their space.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, you need a ceiling box prepared for the type of anchoring required by the multiple canopy. Since the canopy accommodates 7 light points, it is advisable to verify before installation that the electrical circuit can support the total load. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. The working voltage range is wide — between 100V and 240V — making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. The light source is not included; it is necessary to purchase E27 LED bulbs separately.

The glossy black glass shade requires simple maintenance. To clean it, use a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The black steel structure can be dry-cleaned with a microfibre cloth. Do not handle the lamp while the power is connected. Avoid installing it in areas with high humidity, such as the bathroom, unless the product is specifically indicated for that purpose.

Design and use

The TATAWIN M is a pendant lamp with a clear visual identity. The oval shade draws its shape from the traditional dwellings of Tataouine, and that reference translates into a silhouette that is not common on the market. It is not a simple geometric form or a generic design: it has its own profile that stands out in a space without needing additional ornamentation.

The oval glossy black glass shade captures and reflects light in a way that changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed. The glossy black adds visual depth and behaves differently from a matte finish: depending on the ambient lighting, the surface can appear lighter or denser. This means the lamp has a different presence depending on the time of day or the type of light surrounding it.

The steel body gives it solidity without adding excessive visual weight. At 1.67 kg, it is a manageable pendant lamp, and the multiple canopy for 7 lights allows several lighting points to be distributed from a single ceiling anchor point. This simplifies installation in spaces where a more elaborate composition is desired without multiplying electrical connections.

In the dining room, this ceiling lamp can become the central element above the table. A composition with several oval shades at different heights creates a visual interplay that structures the space without the need for additional furniture or decoration. In the living room, it works well above reading or relaxation areas, where a characterful light point helps define the zone without enclosing it.

In the kitchen, a pendant lamp of this type can be placed above an island or work surface. The oval shade concentrates light downward, which is practical for that type of surface. In the bedroom, positioned at the right height above the bedside table, it provides a directed light source that does not intrude on the rest of the room.

For those working on restoration projects or commercial premises, the TATAWIN M offers something that is not always easy to find: a lamp with a recognizable design that does not depend on the surrounding décor to make sense. It works alone or together with other units from the same family, and its black finish makes it compatible with industrial settings, interiors with a neutral palette, or spaces that already feature other dark elements.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows the colour temperature to be chosen according to use: warm light for rest spaces such as the bedroom or living room, more neutral light for the kitchen or work areas. In the bathroom, although installation conditions would need to be verified, a lamp of these characteristics can work in areas away from direct humidity.

The oval shape of the shade and the combination of steel and glass mean this ceiling lamp fits different styles without forcing the result. It is not a piece that demands a specific setting: it adapts.

Questions and answers

Does the 7-light multiple canopy require a special type of ceiling box?

The multiple canopy is designed to be installed in the ceiling from a single anchor point. It is advisable to verify that the existing ceiling box is compatible with the size and weight of the assembly. If in doubt, an electrician can assess this before installation.

Is the glossy black glass shade fragile or resistant to everyday use?

Glossy black glass is a material that requires careful handling during assembly. Once the pendant lamp is installed, the shade is not exposed to impacts under normal conditions of use. For cleaning, a soft cloth is sufficient; avoid direct impacts on the surface.

Is it possible to use this lamp with bulbs with a different fitting than E27?

No. This ceiling lamp is specifically designed for bulbs with an E27 fitting. It is not compatible with other types of fitting. Please remember that the light source is not included and must be purchased separately.
