Overview

The SAMBA lamp by FARO is a hanging ceiling luminaire with a grey-toned shade that fits well in bedrooms, living rooms and hotel spaces. Its oval shape and materials combine effortlessly with different interior styles, from more modern proposals to warmer, neutral environments.

What sets SAMBA apart is the combination of the matte black steel structure and the white papyrus shade. The result is a pendant lamp that does not visually overload the space, yet adds character. The papyrus diffuser distributes light softly, without creating harsh contrasts between lit areas and shadows.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Their products are designed to work well on a day-to-day basis, with materials that withstand use and a design that does not go out of style within a few years.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, a previously enabled ceiling light point is required. The fitting attaches directly to the ceiling using the included bracket. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if the existing wiring needs to be adapted. Before mounting, check that the ceiling can support the weight of the assembly, which in this case is 1.67 kg. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100V and 240V, so there is no issue with the standard Spanish electrical grid.

To clean the papyrus shade, use a dry cloth or a soft brush. Avoid direct water and chemical products, as papyrus is sensitive to moisture. The matte black steel body can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Do not install this lamp in spaces with high humidity such as bathrooms or outdoor areas. Periodically check that the cable and ceiling fixing are in good condition.

Design and use

The SAMBA is a ceiling lamp with an oval silhouette that fills the space well without being excessive. With a total diameter of 700 mm, it is a generously sized lamp, suitable for medium or large rooms. Its height of 350 mm allows it to be installed in standard ceilings without hanging too low or sitting too high.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. This type of finish does not reflect light directly and does not accumulate fingerprints as easily as glossy finishes. The oval shade is made of white papyrus, a material that filters light softly and gives the whole piece a lightweight appearance. The combination of matte black and white is one of the most versatile in decoration: it works well with light wood furniture, walls in neutral tones or with metallic elements.

In a bedroom, this pendant lamp creates a calm atmosphere. The light filtered through the papyrus is not harsh, which makes the space feel more welcoming at night. In a living room, the oval shape provides a visual focal point without the need to add other decorative elements. It is also a good option above a dining table, where the lamp sits centred and defines the space naturally.

In hotel environments, the SAMBA works well both in rooms and in medium-scale common areas. Its design is not overly eye-catching, which makes it easy to pair with different types of furniture and finishes. Maintenance is straightforward, which is appreciated in installations with many lights.

The lamp accepts an E27 LED bulb of up to 45 W. The bulb is not included, so it must be purchased separately. With a warm-temperature LED, the atmosphere of the bedroom or living room gains in warmth. With a more neutral LED, the space is well lit without losing the decorative effect of the shade.

The SAMBA is a modern lamp in the most practical sense: it uses contemporary materials, has a clean design and adapts to different contexts without requiring a specific decorating style. It is neither an industrial nor a rustic lamp, but it is also not cold or impersonal. It is a balanced option for those looking for a hanging ceiling luminaire that works well for years without requiring frequent changes.

If you are looking for a lamp to renovate the living room or to complete the lighting in a room, the SAMBA meets that need with a solid visual result and no installation complications.

Questions and answers

Does the papyrus diffuser withstand the heat of a 45 W E27 bulb well?

Yes, as long as the indicated maximum power of 45 W is not exceeded. It is recommended to use an LED bulb, which generates far less heat than halogen or incandescent bulbs, which also extends the lifespan of the diffuser.

Does the oval shape of the shade have a recommended orientation for installation?

The oval shade has a uniform diameter of 700 mm across all its dimensions, so it does not require a specific orientation. It can be installed without needing to adjust the position according to the shape of the ceiling or the room.

Is the suspension cable adjustable in length?

FARO pendant luminaires usually include a cable with a standard length that allows for some adjustment during installation. To confirm the exact length available on this model, please consult the full technical datasheet or contact our team.
