Overview

The SAMBA lamp by FARO is a pendant ceiling luminaire designed for those looking for a light source that is also a visual element with its own personality. Its papyrus shade in yellow with a white interior finish produces warm, enveloping light without harshness. The matte black steel body is discreet and sturdy, and the combination of both colors creates a contrast that works very well in spaces where a touch of character is desired without being excessive.

This pendant lamp fits well in bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. It is also a valid option for hospitality projects, such as restaurants, hotels, or cafés, where atmosphere matters as much as functionality. Its solid construction and balanced design make it equally suitable for a kitchen with a carefully considered style or for the bedroom of someone who prefers clean forms with a touch of color.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. The SAMBA collection is part of its Faro Lab design line, oriented toward proposals with their own identity.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant ceiling lamp, a properly anchored electrical junction box in the ceiling is required. The suspension cable has a length of 5000 mm, allowing the hanging height to be adjusted according to the space. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before starting, make sure the power is turned off at the electrical panel. Also ensure that the ceiling support is capable of bearing the weight of the assembly.

The papyrus shade should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. The steel body with matte black finish can be wiped with a soft cloth to remove dust. Avoid prolonged exposure to high humidity, as the papyrus may deteriorate. Do not touch the bulb while it is on. Use only E27 LED bulbs with a maximum power of 15 W.

Design and use

The SAMBA is a pendant ceiling lamp with a well-defined character. The oval papyrus shade in yellow is the most striking element of the piece. Its shape is reminiscent of certain Nordic-style or handcrafted lamps, but with a more contemporary finish. The white interior of the oval diffuser allows light to be distributed softly downward and to the sides, without creating points of maximum intensity or harsh shadows.

The matte black steel body that supports the oval shade is clean and structured. There are no added decorative elements, which makes the assembly easy to combine with different interior styles. It works well in spaces with simple geometric lines, but can also be the differentiating point in a room with more neutral furniture. The contrast between the black body and the yellow of the oval shade is what gives this pendant lamp its visual identity without the need for additional elements.

In the living room, a single unit can function as a central light source above a coffee table or sofa, provided the ceiling allows for it. In spaces with high ceilings, the long suspension cable allows the pendant lamp to hang at a comfortable height for the eye. In a dining room, placed above the table, it creates a welcoming atmosphere without feeling oppressive. The warm tone conveyed by the oval shade makes the gathering area feel more intimate.

In the kitchen it can be integrated as lighting above an island or countertop, providing both functional light and a design element. In the bedroom, depending on the size of the space, it can serve as the main ambient lamp. The bathroom is not the most suitable environment for this piece, given that papyrus can be affected by constant humidity, although in bathrooms with good ventilation it could be considered if the pendant lamp is not directly exposed to steam.

This ceiling luminaire is designed for an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W. The type of light it emits will depend on the bulb chosen, but in general, with a warm-toned LED bulb, the effect achieved by the papyrus shade is particularly pleasant, with soft light that adds warmth to the atmosphere. It does not include a bulb, so this should be taken into account before installing it.

The SAMBA is also designed for hospitality projects. In a restaurant or accommodation space, several units hanging at different heights can create an environment with visual rhythm. The yellow oval shade acts as a point of color that does not distract but complements. It is a modern lamp that does not need to rely on passing trends to remain relevant in an interior.

Questions and answers

Can the suspension cable be shortened for lower ceilings?

The cable has a length of 5000 mm, allowing it to be adapted to different heights. It is possible to gather it during installation, but any electrical modifications must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Is the oval papyrus shade durable or does it deteriorate over time?

Papyrus is a lightweight material that requires care. If kept away from direct humidity and cleaned with a dry cloth, it retains its appearance well. It is not suitable for areas with constant steam.

What type of E27 LED bulb is recommended for this lamp?

The lamp accepts any LED bulb with an E27 base and a maximum power of 15 W. To make the most of the papyrus shade's effect, a warm-toned bulb (2700–3000 K) offers better visual results.
