Overview

The KOMBO lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for spaces where detail matters. Its cylindrical structure in black and the metal shade in grey create a combination that fits well in dining rooms, living rooms or kitchens without needing to reorganise the entire interior. It does not take up too much visual space, but it does set the atmosphere of the room.

This pendant version comes with a plug and five metres of cable, which makes installation much easier. No construction work or electrician is needed: the long cable allows you to place it at exactly the height you need, and the hook is already included in the box. It is a practical option for those who want to update their lighting without any hassle.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires. Their products combine functionality and aesthetics without resorting to flashy effects. The KOMBO collection is a good example of this: a family of pendant lamps in different sizes and finishes that always maintain the same formal coherence.

Installation and specifications

No electrical work is required to install this pendant lamp. Simply locate a point on the ceiling to anchor the included hook, run the cable and plug it into a standard socket. Before installing it, check that the ceiling support can hold the weight of the assembly. It is advisable to adjust the length of the cable before hanging the lamp so that it sits at the desired height. Please note that the E27 LED light source is not included and must be purchased separately.

To clean the metal shade, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. Before any cleaning, unplug the lamp from the socket. Do not handle the bulb while the lamp is on or immediately after turning it off.

Design and use

The KOMBO collection was born from the Nutcreatives design studio with a clear idea: to create a family of pendant lamps that work in different contexts without losing coherence. The result is a luminaire that does not try to draw attention to itself, but instead integrates into the space and complements it.

The upper part of the lamp is a matte black cylinder. From there the cable hangs, also in black, which in this version reaches five metres in length. This measurement gives a great deal of freedom when deciding the height at which you want to place the lamp from the ceiling. In high-ceilinged rooms, you can hang it lower to concentrate the light over the table. In smaller spaces, it can be adjusted so that it does not interfere with movement.

The oval shade in grey is made of steel. It has a diameter of 20 centimetres and a clean geometric shape that is reminiscent of industrial or Nordic-style lights without being entirely either. It is not a lamp that imitates a specific style, but rather has its own formal language. This makes it versatile: it fits equally well in a living room with dark furniture as in a kitchen with lighter finishes.

In the dining room, this pendant lamp works very well centred over the table. The downward direction of the light concentrates the illumination on the work surface and creates a sense of warmth in the gathering area. In the kitchen, placed over the island or the preparation area, it serves a more practical function without losing aesthetic presence. It can also go in the bedroom, in the reading area or over the bedside table if you prefer a pendant lamp instead of a table lamp.

The bathroom is another option if you have an accessible socket and the space allows for it. In larger bathrooms, two units of this lamp over a freestanding bathtub or a wide mirror can create a very clean effect. The oval shade and the black and grey finish combine well with dark fittings or stone cladding.

If the same space features furniture with a metal frame or iron legs, this lamp reinforces that line effortlessly. It also works well alongside natural wood elements, where the grey of the shade and the black of the cylinder provide contrast without disrupting the harmony. The lights in this family can be mixed with others from the same collection in different sizes to create a more elaborate installation.

The fact that it includes the hook and requires no electrical installation makes it a real option for those in the middle of a renovation or who simply want to change the look of a room without waiting for an electrician. You only need an E27 base LED bulb to have it ready.

Questions and answers

Does the lamp come with enough cable for high ceilings?

Yes. This pendant version includes five metres of cable, which allows it to be installed in rooms with considerably high ceilings or to adjust the position of the shade with great freedom. The excess cable can be gathered at the top near the hook.

Does the E27 socket accept any LED bulb on the market?

The E27 socket is the most common in Europe, so it is compatible with the majority of standard LED bulbs available in shops. Please note that the maximum wattage is 15 W, so choose a bulb that does not exceed this value.

Is the oval shade made of metal or another material?

The shade is made of steel, as is the body of the lamp. The grey finish is part of the treated material itself, giving it a uniform surface that is resistant to everyday indoor use.
